Very Diverse – NC State strives on being diverse, and it truly is. There are sooooo many different flavors of people at the University. Sometimes there are clashes, such as views expressed on the Free Expression Tunnel, but overall the diversity is definitely a plus!

Love the Dining Halls – Most people hate the dining halls (Clark, Fountain, Case) but I absolutely love them. They serve a varied and nutritious menu that when I eat there, I am extremely content and happy after a meal!

Few and Far Between – True there is some financial aid provided at NC State, but if you are from our of sate you can forget about it. I have loans up the wazoo because most of the sholarships given by fafsa are automatically given to kids who grew up in state or went to high scool in stte. Its really frustrating.

Frequent and Reliable – The transportation options are great at NC State. The wolfline is always running and runs in a wide variety of places. Public transportation is free for the students as well. You can get pretty much anywhere on the buses provided.

Not Well Established – I personally don't see any greek presence on campus. The greeklife is very seperate because they live in their own neighborhood. Most are big partiers/drinkers and I am weary of going to parties at their frat/sorority houses.

I love how it is very easy to get involved at my school. There are many opportunities that you can take advantage of, such as internships, service learning projects and organizations. College is about more than just academics.

The Best. We definitely have the best technology at our school.

Health & Safety:
Safe, but Questionable. I have never really felt unsafe living on campus, but I have heard about several incidents happening on campus. However, campus police are always roaming around. They should just take more initiative to insuring that students are always safe.

You Will Get Caught – Not only will you get caught, but if you get caught underage drinking off campus, the police will contact the school... especially if you live on campus. Bragaw will allow you to have alcohol in your room however, provided that you and your roomate are 21+ and all your guests are too... so I think it's getting softer.

Wow... well, I don't do drugs and I don't support drug users... I don't hear of drug busts hardly ever, and haven't really seen them in the Technician (School paper) which publishes the Police blotter daily. Guess we are pretty clean or people hide it well...

The diversity on campus isn't as diverse as it could be, but I really don't feel that is NC State's fault. Head over to Centennial Campus, where all the engineering classes are, and you will find whites are the minority, especially in the Graduate Degree classes. Also, while the school may get the reputation for having mostly whites and "ignorant rednecks," I mean, come on, we are an AGRICULTURE and VET SCHOOL!! of course most of our farmers are white... but then again, look at the Agriculture Fraternity and you'll find their Vice-Pres is African-American.

Sullivan Hall – I chose Sullivan Hall because I've heard of the Scholars Program. If you live in the Scholars Village, located on floors 2 - 4 of Sullivan, then you get to live with other Scholars that have had similar experiences that you have. Also, no drugs or alcohol. I didn't really care about the alcohol, but I didn't want to risk getting a roommate that used spit tobacco. There is also the Honors Village on the other side of campus but their benefits are to register for classes early. Scholars get to go on events and see operas, plays, that sort of stuff. Plus, If you live in Sullivan, you are near the fountain Dining hall so that is nice. Also, since I live on the 2nd floor, I don't use the elevator, but I hear it occasionally doesn't work. The rooms aren't very large but I seem to forgot that because once you get along with your suitemates, you'll forgot about the size. To get along, something crucial is to LEAVE YOUR SUITE DOOR OPEN. Conversations start and you'll become family. If you don't, it will always stay quiet so sometimes, you might have to start the conversations. Also, a secret to getting a seat for dinner in fountain is to get there before 6:00pm. After 6:00pm is when the rush comes in. Any questions, contact me.

I was in your position (if you are a senior in High School) back in the day and what I will tell you is to choose NC State. I choose NC State over UNC (got accepted to both) because I wanted to go into Computer engineering more than pharmacy. Don't worry about feeling left out because NC State actually welcomes everyone, which was a new experience from my background.

The local weather is fine. We get hot and cold temperatures depending on the season and nothing is to the extreme.

City Like – Off-campus housing is nice since NC State University is right in the middle of Raleigh, NC. The surrounding apartments are appealing to everyone and not just students going to the school.

The facilities at North Carolina State are nice, especially for the part-time MBA program. They have a conveniently located off-campus building which is brand new.

Expensive but Available – Parking permits are really steep but I have never had a problem parking.

Avoid on-Campus Grad Student Housing – NCSU offers some on-campus housing for grad students (some of which is mixed with seniors) but I would recommend avoiding this. It may be convenient, esp. for internationals or students with no cars. However for about the same price you can easily find an apt. off campus with more ammenities and less restrictions.

Top Notch Engineering School – Not that there are many school with nuclear engineering programs, but I would not have picked anywhere else to do my doctorate than NCSU's Nuke Department. All of the engineering school's here are great. I hear some of the undergrad classes are very large though.

The review of this community must have taken place 8 years ago and hasn't been updated since. We have 52 organizations on campus with about 10% of the students affiliated, graduating at higher rates than non-affiliated students. Last year we did 64,000 hours of community service and raised $135,000 for charities. Greek Court is being torn down and replaced with new housing. Its a great time to be Greek at NC State!

Good Times – Our teams may not always win, but the fans are always having a great time.

Greek Housing on campus is nice, but a lot of people attach a stigma to those they know in Greek life that might not always be representative of that individual's true character (however in some cases it is).

It's Great – Even though there might no be much in the way of parking on campus, NCSU offers many park and ride bus options. They have their own bus system as well as deals with other bus companies to make bus rides free for NCSU students
Sorry, there are no reviews.
