North Carolina State University - Campus StrictnessCollege Prowler3.08
College Prowler Take
Campus is very strict on certain activities. They do not condone underage drinking. Many drinking tickets have been distributed to students who have been found wandering campus drunk. Campus is also very strict on illegal parking. The first ticket on a car is always a warning, but after that, it is usually a $40 fine. Students complain about how campus officials are too strict about parking and drinking, but they cannot be criticized for following the law. The University is fair about its policies. If a student receives a ticket for parking in an illegal spot, he or she may contest the ticket with Transportation Services on campus and they may take away the citation if they feel the student’s reason is good enough. Students caught downloading illegal music, movies, or pornography will also be handled by the Office of Student Conduct and be given an appropriate punishment.

We are in the Bible Belt, so it's somewhat strict and has been getting more uptight in the last few years. You can still get down---you just have to be really careful about how and where you're doing it. It's not a good idea to party in your room, but you can do it depending on who your RA is. There are about 30,000 people at State, so it's hard for them to keep track of everything that goes on. The friends that I do know who got in trouble were hit with some pretty harsh penalties and required counseling and whatnot, but they were careless about what they were doing in their dorm for years before the authorities did anything.

I have seen and heard plenty of stories of people getting in trouble for all sorts of stuff. But I haven't, so I would say as long as you're smart and safe you will be fine.

The campus police is pretty strict...
The campus police is pretty strict about alcohol and drugs. After a first offense, from what I understand, the student must talk to Student Conduct and depending on how serious their infraction is, they must then do some kind of class or work to make up for it. If it is extremely serious, they may get expelled or suspended from the school.

The police force is pretty strict...
The police force is pretty strict about drug use, so much that they often violate the rights of students in order to catch them in the act. In regard to underage drinking, they are lenient the first couple of instances but get stricter with each one, requiring classes and literature meant to encourage stopping deviant acts. Unless you live in University Towers (the most expensive on-campus student dorms), you need to be very discrete about any illegal activities.
