A student with an elementary education major will be required to student teach as a student intern for a local elementary school. Student interns are not paid, but they are still required to work hard. Like regular teachers, students will have to create separate lesson plans, teach classes, and take notes. In the future, perhaps in my junior or senior year, I plan to have a student internship at a local elementary school. Having experience as a student teacher will better prepare me before I become an elementary education teacher. However, I do have some concerns regarding how to find an internship and if I will land an internship at a decent elementary school. In the past, I have worked as a first grade VBS teacher for my summer break of 2012. For a full week, I was required to make my own lesson plans and take on full responsibility for the students in my classroom. In total, I taught 12 students and although teaching and keeping the students calm was hard at times, the end results were rewarding.
