You will be perfectly fine. NCSU is a very diverse campus with near 40,000 students in attendance. A good couple thousand are international students.

Yeah most of us are from NC, but people won't be closed off to you if you're not. They might actually find you a bit more interesting because you're NOT from NC. And you won't be the only one from out of the state. I agree with the above comment.

Most students/people in "the Triangle-Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill" are not "from" NC, anyway. You will find diversity.

As NC State is a land-grant institution, diversity is a top priority of the University. Alexander serves as the international dormitory for all students who come to NCSU to study abroad. There are activities that occur across campus promoting different ethnicities. Sometimes, the events are dinners, like the ones the Asian clubs hold; other times, it is rooted a little more deeply in their culture. For instance, there has been a Turkish Night, where they hold an assembly in the Talley Student Center and do a variety of performances, like cultural dances.

It is clear that NC State is making a conscious effort to increase diversity. This is even seen in the gap closure between the male-to-female ratio around the campus. There is, however, not as much diversity as there could be. Looking at the statistics above, it is clear that the white population still dominates the campus, taking up more than 80 percent of the student body.
