You will definitely be outnumbered, but that's nothing to be worried about! State is an agriculture school, so people always like to joke that it's full of farmer's kids. That's not the case at all!

Of course the culture is much more laid-back and more southern than NYC. But Raleigh is a great city with tons to do. People down here are a lot more conservative. However, for every conservative prick, you'll find someone who is just as liberal.

I personally have a friend that is from New York and I am from North Carolina. We get along great. Differences are what makes our friendship cool. It is interesting to see how other people live. There is a lot of diversity here so I wouldnt worry.

Lots of times we use them interchangeably, but there's a difference. Colleges tend to be smaller and more specific, where universities are generally larger and have more variety. Don't choose a school based solely on your prospects of dating! :) If you want a lot of variety and tons of people, choose a big school! I'll be an incoming freshman at NC State, and there is large student population. Visit schools and see what fits best for you. There's nothing wrong with smaller schools, either. You'll meet people wherever you go, if the school is right for you. Good luck! (:

Do you know if they offer a film production program ? What you said actually makes sense to me I should just get in and start interacting , my friends that are girls tell me i'm hot and get upset at me because ' I don't spend time with them ' or I am too cool lol . Im just not attracted to them and need to expand my circle of friends all while getting an education. I heard sorority parties is where its at but my ego would not allow me to join one . Could I start one perhaps ? Or I was thinking about throwing a party every saturday at an apartment that I would rent

There is a film studies program. I don't know it's reputation or anything, but here's a link to the website: http://www.ncsu.edu/chass/film/

If you're a guy, you would be joining a fraternity, not a sorority. But would mix with the sororities. Not sure if that was a typo or whatever. Try not to get your ego get in the way of making friends. If you're interested, go through rush and see if you feel like you fit in to any of the groups that already exist. I imagine there could be a way to charter a new frat, but that would probably be a long process. There are a lot of other clubs and organizations on campus that you could join as well.

sweet thank you so much . Ill going to check this out ill brb

With more than 25,000 students, there is bound to be someone with the ideal personality for you. NC State, unlike UNC-Chapel Hill, is known for having more guys than ladies. This is stereotypically expected, since NCSU is recognized as an engineering school, which tends to attract more males than females. However, with programs like Women in Science and Engineering (WISE), the female population is on the rise, and the boy-to-girl ratio is evening out.

NCSU also has a large agriculture program bringing in the good ol' Southern boys. The boys at State vary from the preppy, boat shoe, popped-collar-wearing frat boys to the tractor-loving rednecks. It is the same with the ladies-you will find pearl accessorized, Vera Bradley-wearing sorority girls, as well as workout fanatics and women scientists. The girls, as a whole, seem to outshine the guys in looks, playing in a league above them, but with Raleigh being a top city for singles, the dating scene is hot for anyone. Boys, don't be afraid to venture out and test the waters at Meredith and Peace College.
