If possible, sign up for ENG 350, an internship class that will allow you to earn credit for an internship the English department will help you find. If your area is science or engineering, work closely with professors who will be able to set you up with a co-op. NC State encourages students to partake in an internship or co-op with companies before graduation. Today, it seems to be the norm that companies are a little biased and would rather hire a student who has had some work experience than one straight out of college. The University Career Center is a key place to find administrators who will help you find your niche in the real world. The Career Center will also aid in writing cover letters and résumés.
