  1. Kiplinger's Personal Finance said Raleigh is one of the 'coolest' places to live. The article states it is a great place for young professionals to live for a number of reasons, including Raleigh's relatively low cost of living and the presence of top universities.
  2. Raleigh was named after Sir Walter Raleigh. According to a legend, Raleigh spread his cloak over a mud puddle in order to keep Queen Elizabeth's feet dry and managed to discover tobacco.
