Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

There are plenty of places to eat off-campus around NC State. Whether you’re in the mood for subs, hot dogs, Chinese, pizza, or wings—you can have it all. Most of the restaurants around campus stay open later than the typical restaurant and are usually busy with students throughout the day, seven days a week. In the midst of all the fast food dining there are even places for you to take a date out to a nice romantic dinner right in walking distance of campus. Hillsborough Street was voted one of the Triangle’s most romantic date destinations.

The most common food places around campus are also very wallet friendly. It is easy to grab a quick bite to eat and only spend five dollars. Students are looking for something quick and cheap to grab in between classes. It is always wise to have a few bucks on your AllCampus card, in case you don’t have time to run out to Hillsborough Street for that pizza or cup of coffee. This way, you can swipe your card at the Hill of Beans in the library or at a snack machine in the building you have class in. Sometimes, it is hard to find time to stop and eat, but as time goes on, you’ll learn which places are quickest and how best to budget your money.

Learn to Walk a Lot

A lot of places will offer coupons at the beginning of the school year. Students make up a lot of their business around here. Most places are either a long walk to get to or require a car/ bus.

Convenience and Variety of Off-Campus Dining Near NC State

North Carolina State University is in the state's capital of Raleigh, making it locally available to a wide array of restaurants in the downtown area, as well as across the street. Hillsborough Street, directly across from campus features a few common places such as Chipotle and Dunkin Donuts, but also authentic places and coffee shops perfect for first dates. The downtown Raleigh area has more upscale restaurants ranging from New Orleans cajun to down-south traditions. Depending on what a student orders, the food is worth the price, along with the experience.
