College Prowler Take

Transportation around campus is not hard to find. Students have the option of driving to campus, parking on campus at their designated spot, or going to a nearby Park-n-Ride. The campus bus, the Wolfline, makes it easy for students to get across such a large campus easily. The Wolfline also runs at night, making it easy to get around to the bars located on Hillsborough Street and to local apartments without the hassle of finding a DD. Many apartments have shuttles that allow students to leave their cars at home and not have to deal with buying a parking pass or finding a spot.

Public transportation is also all over Raleigh. Students without cars often take advantage of the CAT to get around to grocery stores or even the mall. Another perk is that most public transportation is free for students with a campus ID. You may even consider resorting to what is now one of the most popular ways to get to class—riding your bike or your skateboard.

Public transportation at State is very convenient. I loved how we could ride for free. Plus, the buses run very often, so if I missed one there was always another in 10-15 minutes. It's not far from the train station, either, which was a good way to ride home.

The Wolfline buses travel around...

The Wolfline buses travel around campus and the surrounding areas in town and can get you almost anywhere you would need to go (a drug store, the supermarket, and other apartment complexes). To go anywhere else, you will probably need a ride, but this is not unusual and any organization on campus will provide transportation for their events that are off campus. The buses aren't the most direct method of travel, but they will work when necessary.

Public transportation is pretty...

Public transportation is pretty good. It's nice to be able to ride the Wolfline and the city buses for free with your student ID, especially now with the new "wolfprowl" that goes up and down Hillsborough Street, even to right where Hillsborough meets Glenwood. It's still new, though, and I dont think it's been promoted correctly, and its times aren't as exact as the day buses. Also, the Wolfline doesnt run during the weekends (at least to the apartments and other roads farther away from campus), which is a hassle for people that don't have cars and rely on the Wolfline to get around.

I’ve never had to ride the city bus, but I do utilize the cabs on the weekends on a regular basis. Most of the drivers love taking college students—just don’t puke in their car, and all will be good. They don’t make you wait forever, and they are nice about making multiple stops. They also understand trying to cram four people in the back seat. It’s less money for us and a bigger tip for them. A win-win situation.

Raleigh transportation is very organized. I don’t think students should really have a hard time getting anywhere. We have a city bus system and a campus bus system. In my opinion, I think everyone should just invest in a bike and ride that around campus and surrounding areas.
