Info Commons in the library offers many computers that students can access and use if they don't have their laptop with them. Printing is very simple and there is a large print allowance for the year.

Northeastern offers a lot of Division I sports but the students aren't as crazy into sports games as they are at the schools you see playing on TV. There is no football team. Hockey is a big sport here and there is an annual tournament between the major Boston schools that is a big deal and is pretty exciting.

Health & Safety:
I feel extremely safe on campus. Security seem to be stationed everywhere on campus and visible.

Overall Boston is awesome for off-campus food. Locally there are your obvious late-night pizza joints but also some good Thai and specialty. Some areas have higher turnover and you'll probably find a few go-to spots but the entire city is readily accessible by the inexpensive subway therefore opening your options to near limitless. Cappy's on Huntington was one of my favorites and the employees became friends as well as servers.

Large computer labs but also large student population so near finals times often had to wait for available computer.

Overall strictness in policy was average- no underage drinking or illegal drug use. Resident Assistants were utilized as well as campus officers in enforcing said policy but the difficulty came from ease of access to alcohol and drugs as well as the culture of inebriation that is fairly common in Boston colleges. I personally knew of RA's who would drink/smoke with underage students and that campus police was useful but only if incidences were reported.

Drugs and alcohol are very noticeable on campus, partially because of the city environment. Many people can be seen smoking in public, but its not a guarantee that the people are Northeastern Students, as there are residents of the city and many other colleges nearby. To combat this, campus security is very strict about enforcing its drug and alcohol policies, and the Student Conduct Board is very strict in their rulings on disciplinary procedures. Because of that, the campus itself is an incredibly safe and welcoming place, with a few outlying individuals.

Greek life at Northeastern is very small, and is very racially defined. The sororities and fraternities on campus do very little on and around the campus, and interact with outside students very little. There are also no frat houses or sorority houses, and students are often simply members in name only.

I filled up my application 2 weeks ago, however the university haven't received any information about my application. I did contact the financial aid department and waiting for hear back from them. I recommend just going to the office and talk to the person one on one an get the process information.

The transportation is really good to Northeastern. There are 2 subways that go there and the convenience part is the subway's timing are only 10 to 15 intervals. And every thing is at the walking distance.
College Sophomore 2013-03-04T05:05:44Z
Northeastern is very centrally located in Boston, with easy access to subway train stops on two different lines and to the commuter rail. With a Charlie Card it's only $2 per ride on the subway. The airport and bus lines for people who live out of state and need to travel home are easily accessible from the school. Honestly, the public transportation is convenient and accessible but does not need to be utilized often, as most necessities are within walking distance.

I live in Boston (5 mins from NEU Campus) and I love it, the atmosphere is energetic, young and fast paced. The campus is close to the Prudential Hynes Convention Center, Longwood medical center and other colleges, therefore is pretty busy and interested in the Boston/NEU campus area. There are tons of activities especially in the fall and winter season, there is a great gym at the NEU Marino Center for fitness and recreation, and nearby shops for shopping.

Attendance is very important because it helps you keep up with your classmates and the class material, and helps you prepare for future internships and other responsibilities, attendance issues can lead to failing your class. Campus police are enforced which helps keep the campus safe, alcohol, drugs and misconduct is not tolerated.

Northeastern is located in the heart of the city, it is very busy and is highly convenient to public transportation, supermarkets, restaurants, the Prudential Center mall and other necessities. It is very safe, there are on campus police and there are quite a few parking lots and garages surrounding the campus. Cost can vary, but Northeastern has a Off Campus department that post listings from landlords and real estate agents to help students find exactly what they are looking for according to their budget.

The dining halls are pretty good, but could include more gluten free options. Stetson West dining hall is the best because it has stir-fry! Rebecca's Cafe has really good sandwiches and other options. You can use dining dollars at any of the dining halls, Rebecca's, Pete's Coffee, Jamba Juice, Wollaston's, Whole Foods, and other restaurants near campus. Also, Outtakes is good if you have extra meal swipes at the end of the week.

Of schools in Boston, Northeastern has one of the best campuses with beautiful quads and greenery while still being right in the heart of the city. The student center and part of the library were recently renovated. The downside to living in a city is the fields for varsity and club sports are pretty far. The school offers shuttles for spectators to watch varsity games but turnout is pretty low.

I am in the nursing program at Northeastern and know that it is one of the best in the country. Professors are all very knowledgable and enthusiastic about their subjects. Workload will vary greatly between classes and majors. I know that health sciences have an extreme workload, but professors for the most part are encouraging and helpful. Overall, Northeastern offers the knowledge and resources for a great education.

Northeastern's location is fantastic in terms of transportation. It sits right in between the Green and Orange lines, and buses run from nearby Ruggles Station and Hynes Convention Center. South Station and North Station are both easily accessible. Traveling around Boston is super easy!

The dorms are pretty good! Freshmen year is a sacrifice. If you are not in International Village then the dorms aren't the best, but upperclassmen housing (sophomores and above) is wonderful apartment style housing.

If drugs aren't your thing, then it will not be a problem. Sometimes people smoke at parties.
College Freshman 2013-02-19T20:04:06Z
There are so many apartments in the area, many that are right next to campus. Most are also much cheaper than on campus housing and much bigger as well.
College Sophomore 2013-02-18T19:50:12Z
Definitely an over 21 city. However there are so many schools around that its not THAT hard to find some party to go to, it might just take a little bit of effort.
College Sophomore 2013-02-18T19:42:41Z
For students there are parking garages and parking lots, but visiting friends and family will have a tough time in most areas.
College Sophomore 2013-02-17T20:20:24Z
Dinning halls food ranges, not a lot of options as it's practically the same thing every day, but there are more options with all the vendors around campus like in the student center and such.

There are an average amount of scholarships, but they can be limited. By combining what NEU gives you with federal loans and grants it can be affordable. I've found the process easy and haven't had problems accessing my financial aid.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
