Everything you hear about New England winters is true. I like the snow and cold and am fine with it but after the initial snowfall in November/December all people can do is complain about the weather. We have tunnels for anyone whose classes are located on a specific part of the older campus but those can be annoying to navigate and really slippery when everyone is coming down there from the outside with their snow covered Ugg boots. Classes are also very rarely cancelled when it snows. If they do get cancelled, it's only because professors aren't able to get to campus.

Hockey, Hockey, Hockey. Northeastern is all about hockey which is a good thing if you're not the type of person who is involved in football culture (a team that NU doesn't have). Hockey games are a fun thing to go to on Friday nights and tickets are free for students.

There are issues with the quality of the apartments but if you find a big group to rent one out, way before the start of the semester, you should find many options both affordable and close to campus.

They Do It for You – it was entirely done through the application to the university. no effort required
College Sophomore 2011-12-31T19:13:55Z
Its Always Nice – the weather is always great on campus, and their is grass to play on even though we are in the center of boston. Their are lounge chairs everywhere
College Sophomore 2011-12-31T19:07:37Z
Its Good – the food is great, the best food is at IV, but its also good at rebeccas, and west

The Real City Experience – The university is located in the best place in all of Boston, so all the apartments near by are absolutley gorgeouse. However, it can get a bit pricey.

Not the Party Life One Might Hope for – Northeastern is not your typical Florida State College on a Friday night. Some might hope for a better social life, but over all it is pretty desent for most. Some of the dorms are excellent, while others are too basic. The selection of who gets a better room is completly random.

Freshman 15 Gone Right – While the average broke college life of a students hinders most of us to eat junk food all the time, it is worth while to splurge a little on some of the tasty meals Bostonians have access to in the beautiful city. All the restaurants are so close by and the you have such a huge variety of meals from different countries. I personnaly love eating on Newbury Street, in Little Italy and at the Quincy Market.

Freshmen housing is just okay unless you get lucky and get placed in 337 Huntington.

Food Food Food – There are various dining halls through the campus. The one where I live, International village is pretty good. there are a lot of different choice of food. There is not a vegan/vegetarian buffet in IV but there is one in one of the other halls. I think it is great value because you can eat as much as you want in one entry. I like the dining halls in NU and I don't think I would prefer to eat out and spend a lot of money.

It's Okay – I personally am disappointed with the school because it failed to meet my academic and social expectations. Academically, it's not geared towards top-caliber, motivated students. Most of my classes were extremely easy and some seemed rather pointless. Socially, it's definitely not a party school, but it isn't a very home-like school either. Don't expect a lot of on campus activities; most people who are having fun are going to other schools or finding something to do in Boston. A noticeable population leaves and goes home on the weekends.

It's the Northeast – It's completely random. I'm from California, and was expecting it to be fairly cold, but this winter has been mild. Last year it was an icebox. One day it could be bright and sunny while the next could be cold and foggy. Get used to it.

Boston Is a College Town – Boston is designed to be a town where there is so much to do that you could never possibly go bored. It's just up to you to take the initiative and go out and find it.
College Junior 2011-12-23T19:52:27Z
Wide Variety of Students – There are a lot of people from different places and backgrounds, there are also a lot of people with different sexual orientation. People are all pretty accepting

Health & Safety:
Safe and Helpful – NEIU is a great safe place for students. There hasn't been any problems since I have started my first semester. Security keeps it eyes wide open for anything and takes great care are of students that are inside or outside. You will always see security around campus.
College Sophomore 2011-12-21T04:17:24Z
Fire Hazards – It seems like EVERYTHING is a fire hazard. We're not allowed to hang Christmas lights up in our dorms or set up tents. Although they allowed the Christmas lights during the holiday season.
College Sophomore 2011-12-21T04:14:47Z
I'm not really much of a partier, but there are a few parties on campus. It seems that most people go to BU or MIT to party though. The T stops at 12:30AM, so if you're partying, hopefully you're coming home before then.

Guys & Girls:
There are all types of people here on campus. Compared to home, I've noticed there are so many tall people in Boston! Although the guys in my group of friends all happen to be average height or short.
College Sophomore 2011-12-19T02:31:05Z
Sacred Space – We have a super awesome spiritual center at our school. It's absolutely beautiful!
College Sophomore 2011-12-19T02:28:45Z
Guys & Girls:
Social Life: Greek Life – Northeastern isn't big on Greek and I feel safe to join. The reputation of Fraternity Hazing is not really present at Northeastern in my opinion.
College Sophomore 2011-12-19T02:26:51Z
International Students – There are a ton of international students at Northeastern. I feel that there are a lot of events catered to them which is nice. And there are a lot of student unions for them. Also, our studying center has a banner with a ton of flags from around the world which sends a nice message.
College Sophomore 2011-12-18T19:45:23Z
The "T" Subway System – Some lines are more reliable than others but for the most part it's a pretty dependable source of transportation
College Sophomore 2011-12-15T23:56:43Z
It's New England – It's New England, what do you expect? People don't come to Boston for the weather, it rains and snows a lot and generally is on the colder side (which I personally like). Too many gray days can get annoying but spring and autumn are absolutely beautiful.
College Sophomore 2011-12-15T23:53:36Z
Freshman housing isn't supposed to be the best but overall I was surprised at the space and quality of housing we received. Some are a little out of the way, but it's not too much of a problem. Upperclassman dorms (esp. West Village) are amazing! International Village (Honors Freshman housing) is very overrated and is separate from the rest of campus in it's own little world, wouldn't recommend it.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
