Tips for Getting In
  • Apply early with Early Action.
  • Get good grades.
  • Have good SAT/ACT scores.
  • Have plenty of extracurricular activities/high school involvement.
  • Write strong essays.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Boston weather can be very unpredictable! One day it can be sunny and 60 degrees, and when you wake up the next day, there's snow on the ground. Come prepared for every type of weather-bring rain boots, an umbrella, a heavy winter coat, and shorts.
  • Get as involved as possible! Northeastern is a large school, and it can be easy to feel lost in the crowd if you're just drifting along. By joining activities and meeting new people, it will help make the large university feel a lot smaller and a lot more welcoming.
  • Most students tend to choose a major before entering Northeastern or they quickly make a decision during their freshman year. Make sure you know enough about a major before you choose it-what classes will you have to take, how large is the program, what kind of co-op position will be available to you, etc.
  • Your roommate isn't permanent-if you're having trouble, speak with your resident assistant or resident director, and they'll help you sort out the issue or place you in a new living arrangement.
Interviews & Information Sessions
Interviews are not necessary, but attending one will certainly be to your benefit. The information sessions take place in the Admissions Visitor Center, which is also the start and end point for campus tours. If you attend an information session after a campus tour, you can ask questions to an admissions counselor that may not have been covered on the tour.
Campus Tours
Campus tours are offered weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; all tours are given on the hour. All tours begin and end at the Admissions Visitor Center, where you can also attend an hour-long information session about Northeastern.
