Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

The campus housing provided by Northeastern is very accommodating. Most dorms have a modernized atmosphere and offer the comforts you would hope to find in a dormitory building. Freshman housing is distinctly designed for the purpose of meeting people and living in unity among other freshmen. There is a great emphasis placed on "community," so there are plenty of dorm activities and events. All freshman dorms have communal bathrooms on each floor, and most floors are either all girls or all boys. Most freshman-year honors students are placed in better dorms than regular freshmen; some even live in apartment housing.

After freshman year, the University implements a lottery system weighed by seniority. You shouldn't have to worry about getting a bad lottery number, especially if you’re living with multiple people, because each student gets his or her own number. Therefore, whoever has the highest lottery number can pick a living situation for the entire group. The apartment-style housing is very reasonable and designed like an average apartment. The one good thing about living on campus is that the apartments are a lot nicer than those off-campus apartments in Boston.

Northeastern Housing

Speare hall has the worst dorms, however Stetson East dorms are very nice. While the dorms are a little pricey I think that the Stetson East ones are well worth it. Everyone in all the dorms are incredibly nice. Each dorm facility has at least one vending machine and a lounge with a pool table. Stetson East also has four study rooms which are very helpful.

Upperclassman Housing

Campus housing is great once you're an upperclassman. All students (sophomores and above) have the option of living in apartment-style resident halls, with their own kitchens, bathrooms, common rooms, etc. These apt-style rooms generally house 4 people, but it can vary from building to building. West village can be expensive, but it's really nice. Freshman housing isn't that great, but what college does have nice freshman dorms? Overall, the housing is pretty nice.

Not the Party Life One Might Hope for

Northeastern is not your typical Florida State College on a Friday night. Some might hope for a better social life, but over all it is pretty desent for most. Some of the dorms are excellent, while others are too basic. The selection of who gets a better room is completly random.
