I got the financial aid I needed, but I did so by making an in-person appointment. They made me an initial decent-sized offer, but my personal situation required more, so I sat down with my financial aid officer and explained that I would need a better scholarship offer to attend. After speaking with him, I was offered a much larger financial aid package. I have to emphasize that this is a large school; no one's going to hold your hand, so if you want something, take the initiative. It often works out in your favor!
