Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

What little of a drug scene there is on campus really isn’t hard to avoid. During the 2008 election, voters in Massachusetts decided to decriminalize possession of marijuana. If a person is caught with one ounce or less of marijuana, he or she will be charged a $100 fine and will not be reported to Massachusetts’ criminal history board. Other harder drugs are around, but they aren’t out in the open, and students certainly don’t feel pressured to be involved if they don’t want to.

Make sure your roommate is aware of your stance on drugs. Many problems develop between roommates when it comes to disagreements over that sort of thing, particularly because the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution is notoriously hard on students caught with drugs. If you get caught, chances are that your roommate will, too, and vice versa.
