Social Scene
The ratio of guys to girls at Northeastern is about even, and no matter what you're looking for, it's likely that you'll be able to find your match. Many students also come to visit Northeastern from nearby schools, such as Boston University, Harvard, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, so it's very easy to meet somebody at a party, club meeting, or even just through friends. There's never a shortage of available students, and Northeastern students are big on going out for dates-especially since Boston has so much to offer!
Hookups or Relationships?
More and more, NU is becoming a relationship school. Maybe it's because of the cold weather and the desire to cuddle up to someone. In any case, NU students are very attractive, and they are always meeting new prospects, even from neighboring schools. If you're looking for a relationship, it can seem like a hopeless cause because all anyone wants to do is hook up (in both a regular and meaningless context). There are few one-night stands, though, and many NU students come to college with little to no sexual experience.
Dress Code
The basic style is casual, but some people get more dressed-up. Since the University is so close to major shopping areas in Boston, students find any excuse to shop and pretty much always want to look their best. Some students have to have the newest, most expensive items; other students could care less and show up to class in sweats. Nonetheless, it is not uncommon to find people looking good, even at the gym.
