College Prowler Take

Student complaints about Northeastern are generally the same complaints students have anywhere else: the advisors don’t care enough, people slack off in their jobs, etc. Like any school, Northeastern has its setbacks, but these are easy to overlook, given the many advantages the University has to offer.

The city of Boston offers an unparalleled experience for students. The Northeastern faculty is among the best
you’ll find anywhere, and student life on campus is fun and vibrant. Students may take issue with trivial matters here and there—parking’s hard to find, the University can be too strict—but it’s unlikely you’ll find anyone who feels that Boston is boring, or that the University doesn’t prepare students for post-college life. When it comes down to it, most students are happy to be here.

If you are looking for a big...

If you are looking for a big "brand name" university, then you will be let down by the number of people who think we are a state school or a university in Illinois that almost shares our name. But, NU really has so much to offer that I have never questioned my decision to come here. I've been able to get involved in so many different student activities, meet a ton of amazing people, live in Boston for four years, and work at two very well-known finance companies. My work experience is much more impressive than any other college grads I know. Right now, while you are looking at schools, you may think that a fifth year or spending some of your summer at school is weird, but trust me: They are some of the most fun times I have had here, and I would not change anything in my program! There will be times when you have a lot of work, but, overall, campus is a lively place to hang out year-round. The best part is that if there isn't something you want to do on campus, you can always venture out into the city, as well!

I love Northeastern. You have to get involved here, and you have to be a little outgoing. I am in a sorority, as well as three other student organizations, so I live in the student center from Monday through Friday, but I love it. NEU is up and coming and the best choice for a real education.

If I could do it all over, I would...

If I could do it all over, I would definitely stay at Northeastern. The only thing I don't like about Boston is the cold and the wind and those aren't that important. A lot of people find it hard to balance everything and manage their time. Someone once said that you can't have everything out of sleep, eating, social life, and academics, so you have to choose what's important to you.

I would not choose any other college—I love my friends and the atmosphere. It has made me grow up and be more mature because it's a city campus, and there is more freedom. I love everything about it.
