Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Overall, Northeastern University is a well-rounded school that offers a wonderful college experience and a high-quality education. The campus is beautiful and offers a quiet respite from the larger city of Boston. Northeastern exposes you to city life while still allowing you to feel a sense of community in its enclosed campus. The faculty is helpful, and it is fairly easy to get in touch with the right staff members to assist you with your needs. The co-op program puts you ahead of the game when it comes to job connections, industry knowledge, and professional experience. Most Northeastern students who partake in the co-op program graduate with two or three entry-level jobs on their resume.

The downsides at Northeastern are minimal. Parking can be difficult because the school is in the middle of Boston. But most students feel that Northeastern offers a unique college experience that allows you to enjoy your college years while getting ahead in your career.

Co-Op

The co-op program will help you stand out from all the rest when applying for a job. Co-op offers you the chance to work in the field of your choice for 6 months which helps build your resume. This program is unique and Northeastern is rated number one for it. Not many schools offer this and allow you to be able to work for such an extended time while not taking classes during this period. During such harsh economic times co-op is so crucial to have it just gives you that one up from anyone else.

Co-Op Is Priceless

Being in Northeastern's co-op program, I can't understand why it isn't the norm in every college and university. You learn enough in just the first 2 months of your first co-op to make the entire experience worth it. There are so many aspects of your field like terminology, types of people/personalities, common procedures, legal/contractual, etc., that you would never have picked up in a classroom setting. Having the co-op experience really widens the curriculum at Northeastern and made me, and I'm sure everyone, feel a lot better prepared for life after graduation. Plus, it's a great chance to get your name out there and build some pretty valuable references going into your career.

City Life

Northeastern gives you the best of both worlds. Unlike BU, Northeastern's campus is relatively close together so you still get the "campusy" feel. Yet you are in the middle of Boston and have everything you need so close by. What more could you ask for?
