College Prowler Take
Flagstaff weather is, for the most part, beautiful. The area is absolutely gorgeous, and it’s not uncommon to see pictures of northern Arizona on postcards and magazines. The town does get snow, though, so be prepared to be chilly. If you like winter sports, Snowbowl is the place to be for skiing and snowboarding. Flagstaff is also only a half-day drive from many Colorado ski resorts. Because Flag is in the mountains, it also gets very windy, so be sure to bring a jacket to combat the sting of those windy days. Because many students haven’t been around snow before, the winter wonderland always seems to put everyone in a great mood. The rare snow day also causes classes to be canceled and students to rejoice. When the sun is out, Flag’s weather is unbeatable. Trips to Sedona are quite common. Summertime brings even more beautiful weather. It can be a bit warm, but most days are perfect and great for all sorts of outdoor activity.
The thing that really bothers many students is that the weather is very unpredictable. Your day may start off with a wonderful blanket of snow, but the later hours of the day will pour on the sunshine to melt it all away. Local weather reports are never very accurate, and it can sometimes be difficult to schedule outdoor events. Inconsistency aside, the weather is beautiful, with sometimes sunny days, sometimes snowy days, but always happy days.

Brrrr! Bring warm clothes—jackets, sweaters, mittens, scarves—anything and everything you can possibly throw on to keep warm. Flagstaff can get really chilly in the fall and winter months. During the days, it can often be sunny and cool. The weather is rather unpredictable at times, so make sure to bring clothing for all occasions so you’re never unprepared. It’s also very windy in the mountains, so make sure you’re prepared before you’re blown away. |

Flagstaff weather changes at the drop of a hat, and yes, we do get snow here in the mountains of Arizona. It can be 75 degrees on Wednesday and snowing by Friday. It was still snowing in May of this year. |

The weather is amazing in the summer. Mid- to high-70s mostly, with very few uncomfortably warm days. It does snow in the winter, though, so you definitely need the full range of attire. Think layers. You’ll get the most mileage out of your clothing if you can just add layers as it gets colder, since you’ll need summery, light clothes anyway. |

The weather is beautiful, if you like cool weather. When winter comes around, it’s snowy. Bring jackets, sweaters, boots, jeans, and anything else comfy. Whatever you like to wear is fine, just be sure to have something to cover yourself up when it gets really cold. Because, believe me, it does get cold! |

The weather here is awesome, unless you are from Phoenix or Tucson, in which case you will think it’s really cold. You really only need a good coat and some shoes you don’t mind using in snow. |
