Just Short of Great

It's easy with the Rec Center to get into intercollegiate sports at NIU. Tickets for students to get into the bigger sports, (like football and basketball) are cheap and available to students, and everyone here roots for the team. However, we have a giant Convocation center that sits empty most nights because it's far off campus. Our basketball team suffers then, because that's where they play. If they boosted transporation to the Convo center, I think we'd have a much better basketball cheering section.

NIU has a wide range of ethnic backgrounds on campus. Many student organizations focus on common themes among students. Different sexual orientation and religious beliefs are common around campus, but do not cause much conflict. Everyone seems to get along.
