It's the Midwest People!

Ah the Midwest. The only place where you boil at noon and freeze by 3. School is never cancelled here, never. Not even at -40 last year. It's not so bad to walk through ice and snow when you live a block away, but if you're a commuter like me, it's hell, especially when you get punished for not being able to make it to class. Other than that, the weather is pretty fine, except that the heating plant doesn't make wise choices when to turn on and off the heat. Solution? Have class outside.

General Campus Aesthetics

The campus is great to look at however I worry about the general safety. After my Thursday night class I have to walk across the entire campus at night and its dark and often creepy as hell. There have been some recent shootings taking place on campus as of late, so I wish that there was more night time patrol, a buddy-walking system, something, anything? On a positive note the campus displays some great architecture, artwork and memorials.

Life of an NIU Student

The dorm rooms in lincoln, grant and douglas hall are outdated and small. The rooms need much work done in them. These rooms are also not air conditioned. There are some other dorms available but they are far from the classes and are more expensive than the other three dorms leaving students with very few good, affordable housing for students.
