Guys & Girls:
Many of the students are "Hippies" and are really into nature. Theres a lot of random casual hookups, and also some relationships and open relationships.

There aren't many different sororities or fraternities associated with Northern. Greek life isn't a huge deal on campus.
College Freshman 2013-12-08T23:22:39Z
The campus shuttles run fairly consistently and go to the main places that students without a car would need to go
College Freshman 2013-12-08T18:17:22Z
Many students smoke marijuana, its also fairly easy to get access to alcohol. There isn't much peer pressure to smoke or drink or partake in other drugs as far as I've noticed.

There are a few off-campus dining options that are still a part of the NMU dining services. There are also a variety of pizza and sandwich places in town. As well as fast food chains in town.
College Freshman 2013-12-08T18:11:45Z
The main dining hall generally has a good variety of vegan/vegetarian items, as well as a salad bar. Theres always pizza or burgers when you can't find anything else you want.

Each student is given a laptop during the first week of classes. So it is pretty unnecessary to bring a computer of your own unless you wanted to. The wifi is available throughout campus and the dorms. And if the wifi doesn't work you can always use wimax as an alternative. Though the printers are located in the LRC and charge for printing, per page. It would be somewhat beneficial to buy a printer for your dorm room.
College Freshman 2013-12-08T18:03:04Z
Only about half of the dorms have been renovated. Though both quad one and quad two are relatively close to class. The main dining hall is located in the quad one dorms, though quad two is right next to them.

I've had a really great experience so far at Northern. Almost all of the people here are super friendly and I've rarely had a bad experience.
College Freshman 2013-12-08T17:59:49Z
Marquette is a beautiful place!! Whether you're spending time downtown or on lake Superior.
College Freshman 2013-12-08T17:53:16Z
The RA's and such are somewhat strict when it comes to noise violations. Generally you get a warning first. As for drinking in the dorms, its a dry campus, but if you aren't being loud or belligerent and stay in your room you can get away with it. The parking at Northern is lacking, they need to have more lots, especially for freshman.
College Freshman 2013-12-08T17:49:48Z
Depending where in town you go, there aren't many parties that last very long. Many in the residential areas near campus get busted for noise violations, and are then broken up. Though the frat houses and wrestling house usually have something going strong that doesn't get broken up.
College Freshman 2013-12-08T17:27:23Z
There are people here from all over the country and from different countries. Everyone that I've come into contact with generally seems to be accepting and understanding of others' differences, whether its about someone's sexual orientation, race, personal beliefs, political standing, or their economic background.

It is in the upper peninsula, so not much around and the weather just kills all the good things about the atmosphere.
College Sophomore 2013-12-08T02:31:33Z
They are really good and we even have an Olympic training center on campus.
College Sophomore 2013-12-08T02:30:45Z
School provides transportation around campus and town but it is sometimes sketchy.
College Sophomore 2013-12-08T02:30:03Z
I have never been to a party because I do not do drugs or drink alcohol and I don't associate with the people that do those things.
College Sophomore 2013-12-08T02:29:08Z
I have no idea, since I live on campus and I'm not looking for an apartment.
College Sophomore 2013-12-08T02:28:06Z
They are fine, they kind of suck because the cleaning crews suck and the maintenance guy is never around.
College Sophomore 2013-12-08T02:26:59Z
The computers the school requires are to pay for are crap! They are horrible computers!!!
College Sophomore 2013-12-08T02:25:58Z
The safety is very intense if you are caught, but not enough people are caught.
College Sophomore 2013-12-08T02:24:52Z
I'm not getting enough to support me and I might not be able to finish school because of the funding.
College Sophomore 2013-12-08T02:24:07Z
It is way better than the food served on campus.
College Sophomore 2013-12-08T02:23:17Z
Health & Safety:
Never have been there, so I have no clue.
College Sophomore 2013-12-08T02:22:33Z
Its okay, never been anywhere else so I don't know if it is bad or not.
