For such a rural area, we have great public transportation. If you call the Bay Area Rural Transit, they will usually take you where you need to go (within reason).

It's a pretty small town, so we walk, bike, or take the BART bus around here- which is free for NC students. I don't have a car, and I do just fine. People realize we're kind of rural and rides and shuttles are always being offered to events and to big cities over breaks.

Transportation provided for the school is awesome. Northland works wtih the Bay Area Rural Transit (or BART Bus) and student I.D.'s will get you almost anywhere realistic.

There is always a bus driving buy getting you places that you need to go. Most important if it is really late and their is no service left you can call in a bus and they will come to pick you up and take you to campus.

Once you're on campus finding transportation in the local area is easy. There is the BART bus system, which provides free transportation to students and goes all they way to Bayfield. Then in the fall and spring the campus has the Sunshine Bike Shoppe, which loans out bikes, for free, to students and community members. And student can easily walk to local shops and movie theaters from campus. If you plan on having a car on campus the fee is currently $50 a year, which is unbelievably low and your guaranteed a parking spot.
