Northwestern is very good about keeping the buildings and grounds maintained and up-to-date. But the one place where Northwestern's facilities are lacking would be in the athletic department. There is currently only one gym for all of the sports teams to share, and the demand for this space is incredibly high. Northwestern recently added a second weight/workout room to campus, which should help with the demand seen in the other existing weight room/workout area. Many students are hoping to see an additional gym added in the near future, as well as some more sports fields. In order to add more athletic fields, Northwestern may have to acquire more land on campus.
All buildings are air conditioned, and the technology in the classrooms is constantly being upgraded so the systems and network run more quickly and smoothly. The library facilities seem to be more than adequate for students. A new parking ramp was recently constructed that would allow for more levels to be added in the future. There is also a current construction project taking place involving a new student center, cafeteria area, and classroom area being built and ready for use in the fall of 2011. In terms of aesthetics, the grounds on campus are especially beautiful and taken care of. There are always fresh flowers and well-kept lawns. The architecture of the buildings is breathtaking and adds a lot to the atmosphere of campus.
