College Prowler Take
If Chicago weather had a mental illness, it would be schizophrenia. Where else is it 40 degrees and rainy one day and a blisteringly hot 80 the next? Prepare yourself for the worst, curse Lake Michigan, and resign yourself to wearing layers. There isn’t much you can do about weather, and although most complain about the rapid changes and the biting cold Chicago winters, once you’ve made it through a year or two, you can survive anything. If you really think that the weather will be that big of a problem, head to one of those pansy schools in the Sun Belt—perhaps Florida Atlantic would be more to your liking?

Bring sweaters and boots. The weather in Chicago is entirely unpredictable and can change at a moment’s notice. I’m from New York, which is almost the same latitude as Chicago, but spring is definitely a few weeks delayed here and the winter is a lot harsher. |

Bring everything from a parka to a bathing suit. You never know what the weather will be like. Dress in layers because the temperature can shift dramatically in a matter of hours. |

It’ll be nice for the first few weeks, but after that it’ll be cold, cold, cold. Occasionally there will be weird, periods of unseasonal warmth, but bring lots of warm stuff. Just in case, though, bring a few summer clothes for the last few weeks of spring quarter. It may be very hot when you leave. |
