Guys & Girls:
THE GUYS - If you're looking for a religious man or your "future husband that God has in store for you", then welcome to Nyack College. There's a popular line called "a ring by Spring". Religious people come here to get married and find their husband and get engaged by spring. On the other hand, you got your group of guys who just wanna hook up. Mainly the basketball team and a couple handfuls of guys. You can really find all different types of guys on campus. It just depends on what you're looking for.THE GIRLS - You got your religious girls who are looking to settle down and get married to the next guy they date. Then you got your hoes. Then you got your girls who don't mind talking and messing around here and there. But for the most part, girls here really aren't ratchet and sleep around. You have a very small handful of girls who are like that. Most girls here are either super conservative and religious or they just do their own thing and talk to guys here and there on the side.

Everyone focuses on the basketball games. No one really pays attention to any other sport to be honest. The basketball team rarely ever wins though, BUT there is a whole lot of school spirit shown at games.

DUMB BRICK COLD IN THE WINTER. SUPER HOT IN THE SUMMER.

I really can't deal with the rules on this campus. You can't do anything. You can't party, drink, smoke, or even have a guy/girl over your dorm whenever you want! That is not LIFE. That is not COLLEGE. I definitely would have chosen to go to another school. If you want to have a super duper Christian environment, Nyack is the school for you. But I can't say that I haven't met anyone at all that I like. I've met some pretty amazing people at this school. I made some cool friends that I plan to keep in touch with even after college. There are people who smoke and drink and whatnot at this school, but just do it on the down low. My friends and I go here and we still manage to get f***ed up drunk and high every weekend. It's just a hassle to always remember to get gum, eyedrops, perfume, and worry about people knowing you're f***ed up. We should be able to do what we want. We're grown.

It really depends on where you're living.
Simpson - (girl housing) Most freshmen are placed here (or in Christie). It is SO FAR from the rest of campus. Of course it is walking distance, but it is a hell more of a walk than the other dorms. It is the nicest dorm out of the freshmen dorm halls though and it has such a beautiful view of the city. I personally like Simpson minus the walk here. I've been living here since freshmen year and I don't mind it at all.
Christie - (girl housing) Most freshmen are placed here as well. It's not too far from classes. However, people say Christie is haunted. There's been a lot of incidents there. Nyack has a lot of history to it. Christie is a super old building, so there's a lot of story to how it was found and what has happened there. I personally wouldn't want to live there. It gives me a very heavy feeling at night. It's spooky, but then again, my friends enjoy living in Christie. They have a blast there all the time. I'm there to visit often too.
Moseley - (boy housing) "Moseley is where the hoes be!" Everyone loves chilling here. It is one of the most laid back dorms. Everyone is cool with everyone. I don't know if it's because there's no catty girls around, but everyone just seems to get along with each other. Guys always chill outside their dorm and go get food together or gather together to play video games in each other's rooms. It really is a friendly environment. However, that doesn't mean the RA's aren't there to enforce rules. You still can't have girls around in your dorm unless it's open dorm hours.
Harmony, Bethany, Dunbar - (upperclassmen housing) These dorm halls are rather lenient. If you get caught breaking rules, it's still the same harsh consequences. You still can't have the opposite sex over, but I've been to Dunbar NOT during open dorm hours and I didn't get caught (I'm a girl). People are chill in these dorms. The RA's don't really care.
Jeffrey - (family housing) These dorms are for students who are married and have children.

THIS CAMPUS IS OD STRICT! You plan to drink? You wanna have a blunt with your friends? You wanna have girls/guys over your dorm? Forget it. We have this thing called "OPEN DORM". The opposite sex is allowed over from 6pm-11pm on Fridays and 2pm-9pm on Saturdays and Sundays. It's wack. If you're caught with alcohol or drugs on you on campus, it's a wrap for you. You'll have a meeting with the Dean the next day and you'll probably have your bags packed to get kicked off campus later on in the day after the meeting. However, if you're over 21, you are allowed to drink OFF campus, but you cannot come back to campus drunk.

Health & Safety:
We don't even have a nurse. We have a health advisor or whatever that bullshit is. Basically, she doesn't help. She just gives you appointments to the doctor's. Don't even get me started on campus security. They're deadbeat security who just roam around campus. Our campus is an OPEN campus which means anyone can walk in and out. We deal with witches in the town. YES witches. Google NYACK WITCHES. You'll find out a lot more than you think. Campus security don't do anything. But they're not the ones in charge of breaking up parties and whatnot. The RA's are.
College Sophomore 2013-11-09T08:47:51Z
Nyack College has so much diversity. Most of my friends are black, but that's cause that's just who I get along with. I'm asian and there are actually a lot of asians on campus as well. You got your whites, spanish, etc. You basically have every race on here. BUT, we are a Christian school, so when it comes to the whole diversity on religion, sexuality, and politics, it becomes a bit more strict and homogenous. Everyone's basically a Christian here. Usually, athletes aren't because you don't necessarily need a pastor's recommendation like everyone else to get in, as long as you're playing a sport.

PLEASE have a car. I am not even kidding you. Taxis are money. Buses are money and to even get to the bus stop is mad work. Most students have cars. Freshmen aren't allowed to have cars, so you're pretty much f***ed if you don't have one, but you manage to befriend upperclassmen. If you wanna party and go out, you really need to have a car on you because chances are, if not all, most parties are OFF campus.

The student life is alright. During the spring and summer time, everyone is always out. However, even during then, not a whole lot of people are out. People are usually in their dorms or at the mall or doing something else to have fun (i.e.: smoke weed, get their nails done, go out to eat, go to the park, cliff jumping, etc.) The student center usually has a couple people here and there. It gets crowded before and after the cafeteria opens and closes. The campus does have events like salsa nights, make your own edible arrangements, wing night, etc, but it's a 50/50 chance for a lot people to go. Most students don't really enjoy partaking in campus events cause some people don't f*** with certain other people and some students just don't like the school.
College Sophomore 2013-11-09T08:35:35Z
There's actually a lot of different places you can eat at downtown Nyack and it's not far from campus at all. There's a mediterranean place and an amazing pizza place called Tarantella's. They have the best buffalo chicken pizza and bacon chicken ranch pizza. The Palisades Mall is also about a 3 minute drive and they have all sorts of restaurants there including Buffalo Wild Wings.

I'm an education major. I'm only a sophomore, so I'm not in the program yet. The education program begins junior year. Most programs begin junior year. It's a lot of work. Nursing majors especially have it tough. However, Nyack College never gives you anything way too challenging. You can always tackle anything you put your effort into.
College Sophomore 2013-11-09T07:14:46Z
I've haven't had an internship at my school yet. I'm an education major so I don't know much about internships in other majors, but most education majors find internships easily at schools that Nyack College has connections to. We're also right next to a middle school in Nyack.
College Sophomore 2013-11-09T06:58:19Z
It went by smoothly. As long as you're not lazy, you should be fine. The counselors go out of their way to really help you get what you need.
College Sophomore 2013-11-07T08:03:22Z
DRUG SCENE? at Nyack College? Forget it. Minus the handful of students who smoke weed or pop molly or whatnot, you'll find nothing but Jesus-loving Christians here. They don't call it The Dryack for nothing, but you'll be surprised that a lot more people do smoke a hell lot of weed than you think. It's just on the low. Being lowkey is stressed amongst the group of people who blow it down.

The atmosphere is ok. There are plenty of shopping areas. They are accessible by public transportation as well.

Freshman can not have their cars on campus, but I suggest that if you can drive that you should! There is access to bus services in the area. But it is a walk away.

Campus security take a while to show up when you need them.
College Senior 2013-11-05T23:27:01Z
Apply for scholarships is all I can say. If a student has a religious affiliation with the school, they will get more money. If your grades are high= more money. They do there best to help, but students have to do their part too.

The athletes for the most part are pretty humble. I don't think the spirit is that high. It's fairly neutral! Some teams are better than others but the athletes here really have drive.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
