Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

For students looking to live on campus, there are many options to choose from. Each dorm is clean and well-maintained. For freshmen, Hamlin Hall is the main dorm. On each level, a common room is available for students to hang out or do homework. On the main floor resides a big-screen television and fireplace. After 10:30 p.m. on weekdays, quiet hours are imposed in all dorms.

Vandenberg Hall is home to the Honors College and honors floor, along with the nursing floor. In Hamlin, you have the choice of lofting your bed. The dorms are a nice size and can fit anyone comfortably. The dorms do not have air conditioning, so the higher levels get very hot at the beginning of the year. You are not allowed to bring your own air conditioning units, so if you are considering living in the dorms, bring two fans to help air flow.

Not Enough Dorms

There are simply not enough dorm rooms to meet demands. This year over 100 students had to stay in a nearby hotel because, while they paid for room and board, there weren't any dorm rooms available.

The dorms they do have are old. They updated the windows, but they are cheap and poorly designed.

The Oakland Center

When I want to eat or study I go to the Oakland Center. The Oakland Center is a place on campus where everyone goes to eat and hang out on their break. That's the problem...Everyone goes there. Everyone seems to be there at the same time, the lines are too long, and there is never anywhere to sit, you have to walk around a hundred times in hopes of a table becoming available.
