Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Drugs are not prevalent on Oakwood’s campus. Most of the students have high standards and values for themselves, but there are always the small few that will engage in drug use. The only drugs that have really been reported on campus are marijuana, alcohol, and cocaine. These activities are usually done behind closed doors, and it is not a noticeable part of campus life. Alcohol and drug use are both restricted from campus, and if a student is seen in possession, that person will face dire consequences, including fines up to $500. Oakwood University has a zero-tolerance policy and takes drug use very seriously.

Oakwood’s environment promotes a healthy diet, a healthy mind, and a healthy body. Holistically, Oakwood promotes good health and the environment discourages the use of harmful substances. Students are most influenced by their peers, and depending on their friends, they can either be pressured to use drugs or not. Therefore, it is important that students are careful in picking their friends. Oakwood goes by the motto: “Whatever you are looking for, you will find it.” If students are looking for drugs, they will find students with similar interests, but if they are looking for knowledge, they will find peers who have the same goals.
