For a town of its size, Oberlin offers a fair variety of restaurants, most of them specializing in Chinese/Asian and Mediterranean cuisine. Students from New York City are the most likely to complain about the choices, but if you don’t mind making the drive to Cleveland, there’s a larger selection to choose from, including excellent Indian food at Café Tandoor, and spicy Korean dishes at Seoul Hot Pot. As for Oberlin, if you ask anyone what his or her favorite restaurant is, most will tell you Black River Café. Black River serves only breakfast and lunch, but is extremely popular with students and faculty, especially on weekends, when it’s best to arrive before 11 a.m. in order to avoid the long line-ups. Although there isn’t any 24-hour eating in town—a fact that aggravates many night-owls at Oberlin—there are a number of restaurants that keep their kitchens open until relatively late, such as the Feve. Most students enjoy the food at Weia Teia, but ?nd it rather steep in price—the best deal is to go for lunch, when all main courses are much cheaper. The recently opened Agave is owned by the same people who run Black River Café, and is equally as delicious if you enjoy a healthy meal of burritos and tequila. Tooo Chinoise, the Mandarin, and Java Zone are common places to take a date, but if you’re looking for a little more anonymity and chic décor, try Lola’s Bistro or Sergio’s in Cleveland.

Good places in town: the Mandarin, and the Feve (if you can deal with the service). Also, nearby in Amherst, is Don Tequila’s, which is really good. |

There are a handful of pizza places, the Feve for burgers, a number of Asian-style places, and Black River Café for breakfast. The food is pretty good and, although there isn’t much selection, it’s often enough. |

There are very few restaurants off campus within the town: Weia Teia, Mandarin, Black River Café, Java Zone, Lorenzo’s, and the Feve. |

Weia Teia is nice, yet funky. The Mandarin is acceptable, but not special. The burrito bar is fine; the chipotle sauce is especially good there. The Feve serves quality pub grub. |
