Best Place to Take Your ParentsCollege Prowler Take
Simply put, the off-campus dining scene around Oxy can not be beat. There are many options nearby, and an even greater degree of choices and quality restaurants the farther one goes into the city. The sheer number of restaurants and the high level of satisfaction shows that eating out while at Oxy is almost certainly going to be good. The off-campus eating scene at Oxy is excellent. Whether in Eagle Rock itself, or in the surrounding areas, there are plenty of options for places to eat, and almost all of them are great. Casa Bianca is one of the highest rated Italian restaurants in LA, and the rest of the restaurants in the area are not far behind. There are also many options for prices as well, as most things are well within a typical college student’s budget. While it may take a car ride, walk, or bus ride off campus to get to all of this, there are enough close-by options and such a huge variety that it doesn’t matter. It is very beneficial that there is so much variety off campus. With only two dining halls on campus, students are pleased with some of the options that they have with off-campus dining. The eating opportunities off campus more than make up for the so-so food on campus. The location of Occidental is a great strength, especially when it comes to eating off campus. A large number of options and a high level of quality give any student an excellent chance to find a good meal near or far, regardless of restrictions on tastes, time, or money.

I love eating in Eagle Rock, and if I want something different, there’s all of Los Angeles to choose from. I don’t like driving too much, but there are some really amazing places that have really good food, and a really cool atmosphere as well. |

I’m in love with Pat and Lorraine’s. It has really good breakfast and lunch food, and the service there is great. It’s like a lot of the places nearby—small, but really good. |

The variety is awesome. I can eat French, Italian, Thai, American, Chinese—whatever I want—and it’s all close by. It’s good that I have a meal plan, otherwise, I’d be tempted to eat out all the time. |
