The student body at my school is helpful and decied what needs to be done in order to maintain a healthy school year. The typical student at my school is funny and outgoing. They are not shy at all, and they usually always come to class and participate in the work.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
My Review – I believe what the Oglala Lakota College does for us is a great thing. The financial aid and help we recieve is really nice. The education we recieved is also well worth the tuition we pay. I like going to Oglala Lakota College, it is flexable enough for me to help take care of my grandma, maintain and job and school and still pursue my education, and further my career.

There are resources everywhere, one must be willing to take responsibility for their education and seek out opportunities for advancement.

I haven't graduated yet, but people I know who have graduated are working in rewarding careers.

My school is in the vicinity of transit busses and shuttles, therefore students are able to travel to and from classes. I find the numerous campuses very unique because they are available to Native Americans across the Pine Ridge Reservation. They are also available to Native Americans who do not live on the reservation (example: Rapid City).

I've only been enrolled at the Oglala Lakota College for 2011 Fall semester and I find it difficult to travel from class to class. I had a difficult time planning on when to get my books because there is only one book store located for purchases. I find my college unique because there are many of them scattered across our reservation.

Campus Resouces – I understand how the Oglala Lakota College centers are spread out for those who are unable to make it to the main college center for classes but I don't like how only some classes are offered at some centers, therefore I have to drive 40 miles to take a class that isn't offered at my center.

The Oglala Lakota College is located on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and what makes it unique is that it's a Lakota college where lakota classes are one of the main classes you have to take for any major. So far my experience here is just like high school because I basically know everyone due to the fact that I did go to high school with many of the students. It's a big change for me because I went to two division 1 colleges and then I came down to a community college. The population differnce is what bugs me the most.
I would change my school options again and maybe think more about what is a good budget for me other wise I wouldnt be here at the Oglala Lakota College taking classes.

Online Classes More Responsibility – At the Oglala Lakota College, the online classes are time consuming and require self-discipline. The Medical Terminology course was an easy course, but the difference of "not being in the classroom" made way for more responsibility at understanding course material and objectives. Logging in for class meant that you already read your assignment and were ready for discussing that days topic. A student should take these kind of classes if they have the time to spend a couple of hours on computer. I work and didn't fit that category.

Major Changed to Lakota Studies – The Cheyenne River College Center opened its doors in the Fall of 2006 and I will tell you that with all the Lakota Classes being offered, I decided it would be more "convenient" for me to take classes that are being offered than take classes for a degree to where I would be looking for classes in later for my other major.

Small Environment for Learning – I enjoy being able to communicate with all my professors when I am present in the college. The Cheyenne River College Center has a nice staff team and the faculty is very helpful in the success of the students enrolled in he or she's class. The smaller environment to learn makes it easier to understand course material.

Tuition & Financial Aid:
Tuition Payment Method – I really liek the payment system that our college has. Because of it i have been able to pay for my current college courses since i cannot recieve anymore financial aide. I am allowed to make monthly payments in order to continue my education.

The Need for a Personal Computer and Printer – I do a lot of my course work at home. I do this as i teach full time during the day and do work a lot of the time at my home computer which is very handy. Before i had a home computer i had to use the computer lab at the local college center and it was hard to do if there was a class going on at the time. a majority of the time i do my course work after 10pm when my children are in bed.

Friendly Environment – When I enrolled in classes I had a vey pleasant experience because the staff really helped me through the process. I was able to enroll in classes that I need for my degree and that worked well with my schedule.

Lakota Culture – Over all I am happy with my higher education experience. I love the fact that Lakota culture is offered and also required classes. It makes all the students really think about and take part of the Lakota traditions and culture.

Hassles and Frustrations – First of all, I do not know which of my classes are going to be available to the next semester, and most of my credits did not transfer, so I have to start from scratch basically.
