The dorms are pretty small compared to other schools. There are lots of different options so you just have to be careful about what you pick. North and South campus have the basic singles, doubles, and quads while West campus has suites of 10+ people. I live on West campus and it is pretty quiet as it is far from everything and pretty out of date.

I see international students everywhere. The tolerance seems great, I never see people being made fun of. If anything, there's a lot of learning from one another's culture.

The buses are all over the place and run almost constantly. The student ID works for COTA which will get you long distance transportation too.

I'm a chemistry major and pre-med student. The program is great but organic is really difficult and it should be easier to get into a lab than it is.

Health & Safety:
Most of the year I feel very safe on campus, campus security has a decent presence and there are different safety measures in place. However, every fall seems to be some sort of gang initiation time and the past few years there have been a month or two of robberies at gunpoint around the campus area. For the most part no one is harmed, but it is still unnerving to have these events happening.

There are many options that can fit about any price range and you can easily find apartments/houses within a walkable distance to campus. The quality of the houses/neighborhoods depends on the price range but overall are of good quality. In order to find a good place though you need to start looking as soon as possible, most tenants have to renew their leases in january.
College Senior 2013-03-18T18:19:52Z
Definitely the cheaper option, however; some of the houses are trashy and full of people who don't take care of them. Otherwise, off campus can be pretty nice-- especially north of campus.

Pretty standard dorm experience. They're super expensive and the meal plans are a rip off, no doubt. The new dorms are super nice though!

I'm a Social Work major and I absolutely love the college. The professors (for the most part) are wonderful. They're great and always more than willing to work with you outside of class or talk about their experiences in the field.

I've met so many diverse persons at OSU. Definitely easy to find your own niche.
College Sophomore 2013-03-16T16:29:17Z
It's expensive unless you do your research and sign a lease early in the year.

OSU is a highly respected academic university. The workload is tough but help is easy to find and use.

There is so much to do in Columbus. Concerts, Crew games, Blue jackets, movie theaters, and plenty of restaurants.

I am very happy in my program. If I could do it all again I'd still be in the same place. I want to become an Athletic Trainer Certified and practice for maybe 10 years or so and then strictly do research in Exercise Physiology.
I am not concerned about finding a job, because OSU has one of the best programs in the country, there are jobs everywhere and there are resources to help you find jobs.

I enjoy my program because of the hands-on experience and you jump into clinicals in your sophomore year. Athletic training will become your life however. You have regular classes AND a clinical schedule that feels like it is a job. Clinicals will add 20-40 hours to your week, but it is worth it if this is what you truly want to do. It requires a lot of discipline, but it is amazing to learn things in class and to apply them in clinicals.

The change from semesters has changed the entry process into my program a little bit. You need to take the basic Athletic Training class in the fall. If you do well in that class you take a lab and directly observe Athletic Training staff in the spring. If you have been successful in those experiences and completed the pre-requisites with better than a C+ you can apply for the program in spring. There is a selection process where the top students are chosen for interviews. After the interviews you are told whether or not you are admitted. The key is to apply yourself in AT class and lab and to come in with an interest. For your interview just stay calm and be honest.

It is good and accessible except on weekends. However, this is understandable because not many people need it on the weekends.

Ohio weather is up and down. It can be 70 degrees one Monday and snowing on Wednesday.
College Sophomore 2013-03-13T18:16:29Z
A lot of the dorms are really small, but off campus is really fun and less expensive.

The network speed is amazing. It goes down very rarely but I love it.

Guys & Girls:
People on campus are very normal and day to day people. They are just like grown up versions of your high school peers and more of them.
College Senior 2013-03-12T21:22:21Z
There is a great variety of food off campus. You can find most chain restaurants if you arent very adventurous, but there are plenty of ethnic places that are close to campus as well as a short drive or bus ride away.
College Senior 2013-03-12T21:19:37Z
If you have a parking pass it is easy to find a parking spot on campus during the day or night. It also gives you free parking during any events. Off campus parking is harder to find, but if you are good at parallel parking you are fine.
College Senior 2013-03-10T21:12:30Z
Not strict at all. Dorms have few rules. Can skip class.
College Sophomore 2013-03-10T20:31:37Z
Right now, the only thing I ever notice on campus is tobacco/cigarette use, and OSU is going to be a tobacco free campus next year. I have never been pressured into using drugs, nor have I seen anyone using drugs of any sort (besides smoking).
Sorry, there are no reviews.
