Ohio State is known for athletics, especially for football. We won every game in 2012. Support is at max. RPAC, the athletic facility is the best in U.S.
College Sophomore 2013-02-24T00:43:30Z
The RPAC is the best athletic center in the United States. Whatever you want to do, there is.

Ohio State has everything you could ever ask for. Everything from career services to programs and events networking with professionals and graduates. There are also many clubs that can help with finding a career or co-op.

The drug scene is definitely available if you want to be in it. There really isn't much peer pressure. There is a lot of drinking though and its definitely easy to find a party.

You get hot to very cold, but its definitely better than other places. Its definitely tolerable.

There are so many things to do, there's always a party or a club that you can go to and everything is within walking distance or you are able to use the bus system for free with your student id so transportation isn't a problem. If you're not into the drinking scene there is still plenty to do, with a city at your door step the possibilities are pretty much endless.

Ohio State is a wonderful college, don't be fooled by the "sports school" persona that many like to give it. The school is one of the leaders in the nation in research, which is one quality that sets it apart from others. Also Ohio state has a global presence, meaning that really anywhere in the world you go you are bound to find another buckeye to connect with. Campus life thrives at such a big university there are hundreds of clubs to get involved with, different recreational activities that you can do and of course sporting events that you can go to all year round.

For the most part the buildings are very up to date, this being said there is always construction going on. There are many spaces that are really great for students to hang out an study and all of them are kept clean and nice. Some recent renovations/additions to the school are the Recreational and physical activities center (RPAC), the Thompson Library (main), the Ohio Union, and the Science and Engineering Library.

There are many different types of people at Ohio State. Diversity as a whole isn't an issue, also they are very accepting of all types of people. Being such a large school its hard to say that no one antisemitic but i really believe that's for anywhere you go to school.

There is a ton of different majors at OSU and it is extremely respectable in most of them. I personally am in the Psychology department and I love being able to work with some of the top researchers in my field, especially doing undergraduate research in the labs. It's nice having teachers that are so passionate about everything they do.

Some restaurants can get a little pricey but the selection of what is available is absolutely brilliant and the school usually offers discounts at different restaurants every week to help bring down the prices

The real nightlife is for students that are over 21, but there are a ton of drink specials almost every night which make it a lot more worthwhile for those people who are 21. The house parties are absolutely killer though if that's your scene.

The weather is nothing that is new to me being from Ohio originally, but on days like the one currently occurring, the sidewalks get too icy to safely walk on and yet classes are not canceled so I have to risk my life to try and get to my single 45 minute class.

Parking on campus is fine if you have early classes, but after 10 am the parking lots get full. There are multiple permits you can buy, around $100 for the farthest parking lot, but it is not bad because of the bussing system.

I am pursuing a double major in Psychology and Criminology. So far I have been very pleased with both of my majors, the professors really understand how to teach and communicate the material to their students. Also, the counselors are very helpful and just an email away.

The Campus Bus System is an efficient, convenient form of student transportation because it provides a way for students living further off campus to quickly get to central campus. The only downside is that the evening buses only come every 30-45 minutes, which defeats the convenience of the system.

My personal dorm experience was fantastic, but there were a few cons to my living quarters. There was no air conditioning in my dorm which began to pose health concerns in the Fall, Spring, and Summer. Otherwise, Mack Hall was a wonderful experience, even though space was EXTREMELY limited. I would absolutely recommend Mack Hall to freshman choosing dorms because they are installing air conditioning for next fall's freshman and my experience was overall very positive.

Off campus housing would improve if the university provided an accurate listing of available housing for the following leasing season from all applicable realtors instead of students having to search outdated realtor websites. Much of the off camus housing is expensive and some housing is downright unaffordable as a full time student. Parking is tricky and almost everyone gets towed or gets a ticket at some point during their academic career here at Ohio State.
College Sophomore 2013-02-21T02:01:55Z
We have many good professors at Ohio State, there are also many tutoring and success workshops offered for those courses that are more difficult than others. You can succeed, you just have to utilize the resources.

I have not completely gotten into my program yet, however there have been many programs designed to help us succeed, and reach out to us.

There are not many apartments, mostly houses. Also, the houses do not seem to be worth the money. The apartments are nice, however they can be quite expensive.

Well, winters can be brutal. The walks to class are long and extremely cold. While they are really good at making sure the sidewalks are clean, it can still be dangerous. It is Ohio so you can't complain too much.
College Senior 2013-02-16T23:03:38Z
Ohio can get pretty cold in the winter and that is never fun to walk around in. Classes aren't all that close to dorms either so when stuff freezes it can get dangerous. Plus, I'm in my third year and I still have not witnessed a day where classes got completely canceled due to weather. Night time classes were canceled once though. The people who take care of the sidewalks and stuff are pretty good about salting everything most of the time.

Health & Safety:
I don't usually feel too unsafe on campus. They've recently been improving the lighting along streets which is really nice because a lot of people in my major end up outside walking home at pretty late hours. I've never had to deal with the campus police but I know that they are present because I see them driving around often. There are also these emergency buttons posted around campus that you can hit and call for help. They have blue tops. Around actual campus (where classes take place) there are a decent number of them but there could be more. I am often surprised when I see some in an area that I consider to be off campus (there are a few in the student populated neighborhoods surrounding campus.)

The sports teams are great. Two very good malls are close by.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
