There are parties every weekend. A lot of people attend frat parties.

I was not involved in this scene and dont think that it is very large but there are so many students it is definitely there.

It is easy to receive it is just hard to keep up with.

CABS buses are great. Until the weather gets cold that is. Once the weather gets bad and more students want to take the bus it becomes a lot more of an inconvenience than the twenty minute walk to class would be. More buses running in the winter would be great.

Plenty of options. Plenty of meal plan options. The menus and the variety are great. There's always something to eat on campus
College Sophomore 2013-02-12T21:42:34Z
Its more often cold than not. It also rains and snows a lot. Classes rarely get canceled. Buses fill up quickly so most students have to walk even if its all the way across the huge campus.

The wireless internet connectivity is horrible. Good luck getting your smartphone to connect on campus. Difficulties arise even in the residence halls.
Once connection is actually established, there are no problems speed-wise.

Being a student of the Mansfield branch I have not had to use the different transportation options.

When my friend and I went out for the FAFSA goal day the people who were there seemed friendly and helpful. I had went in prepared with the additional information that one of the administration people told me to bring. I have given this the grade of a "B" because somewhere along the line communication was lacking. Lacking because the information I carried in was not needed and when I ask about "grants and scholarships" all I was told was that I had to apply on my own. I am not quite sure exactly how to apply for scholarships so I am searching and trying to figure this out.

I am not involved in the athletics at this school because I am 51 years old. I do support our teams though - Go Bucks! It does seem like there is a high energy of team support through out the school and community.

Was a Pharmacy major, switched into Food Science and Technology because I didn't want to work behind a counter for the rest of my life. Overall, very good school. Chemistry classes here are notoriously tough, and this is coming from someone who loves chemistry. It makes sense though because they're setting many people up for med-school. Organic is BRUTAL. But if you work hard, do the problems they tell you to do, and go to lecture, you will be set. Never got a grade below a B in chem. Going here makes me feel like I'm really getting prepared to make it big in the real world.

There are fantastic fraternities and sororities--those that are very involved with community service and are well-behaved citizens. Then there are the "frat" type of Greek organizations: those that ruthlessly haze (even though it's illegal) and binge drink. Stay away from them, as they are trouble.

Guys & Girls:
OSU is a huge school--your're likely to find someone that's right for you. There are lots of attractive girls and lots of not-so-attractive ones, with plenty of in-between. Beware: Most of the good looking girls are taken.

The campus does enforce basic rules and laws, but in general the school's environment isn't that strict

The Off-Campus Dining is awesome. There's tons of options on High Street and the main streets right around Campus where it is possible to get good food for not-too-bad prices. Additionally, there's lots of great places to order food from and have it delivered to both on and off-campus housing!
College Sophomore 2013-02-09T20:59:53Z
Some of the Off-Campus Housing at OSU is really nice, and some of it is...not so nice. It really depends on the location and who lived in the house before you. A lot of the housing is a little outdated too, but the University is working to renovate many of those units, which are very nice once done.

Athletics at OSU are HUGE. They are one of the main attractions for people on and off campus in Columbus. We are a Division I school with amazing sports teams and tons of school spirit because of this. Additionally, there are plenty of club teams appropriate for people passionate about all kinds of sports that have many active participants. Athletics in general are a huge part of life here at Ohio State.

There are a lot of off campus housing options in the Victorian Village, Short North, German Village, Grandview, etc. Apartment rates are reasonable and sizes are really great. The one negative to living off campus is that parking passes are expensive and finding a good parking spot is tough. However, the COTA bus system is really great and goes pretty much everywhere, so getting to class that way is a great option.
College Senior 2013-02-09T19:09:16Z
Columbus is a mix of college town & downtown, which is awesome. The campus area has lots to do and a lot of places to eat and hang out while just south of campus there is the downtown area with even MORE to do such as museums, sporting events and fun restaurants and bars.

If you are from out of state or country, you might want to get accustomed to the bipolar nature here at Ohio State. It'll be 60 degrees one day and then 15 degrees and snowing the next.

The computers aren't terrible, but I've found there are few printers that are accessible in each building, you have to walk a while, also, it takes a bit to get on the internet through wireless access.
College Sophomore 2013-02-08T16:18:16Z
There are many things to do here at night. High Street is pretty alive at night, and there are a fair amount of things to do.

OSU is home to many people of many races, ethnicities, socioeconomic statues, and just overall different types of people.

They throw lots of parties, and do lots of philanthropy work, but I don't participate in it.

Being a mathematics major, it is important to keep in touch with your academic advisor. They will also reach out to you, and the communication route is very easy. The math department will also reach out with extra-circulur activities such as attending special meetings, seminars, or workshops. The department invest in each and everyone's success the same, it is up to the student to invest back.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
