When getting admitted things are layed out in plan black and white. As long as you maintain the GPA you are pretty much guaranteed into your program.

Good Eating – There are a variety of places to eat around campus. Individuals can pick form any type of food to eat.

Too Much Money – There are a variety of places to park on campus. The problem with parking that it is far away from classes often or you have to get there extra early for a parking place. Parking permits are good to have because you can park in any parking garage, but the cost is extremely high for students who live off campus and have to drive to school because of other obligations that have to get to.

Financial aid was easy to get, but i feel that I could have received more. I did my FAFSA online so there was little contact with the financial aid office until they disbursed my Aid.

Apartments Are Expensive – If you live close, they're really expensive and aren't as nice as other places would be that haven't had a butt load of college parties. if you live away from campus, the prices may be reasonable but you may have trouble finding a parking spot if you drive to school or overcrowding of the buses especially in the morning or when everyone's getting out of class or work.

It's Interesting – Communication is very interesting. It's a very broad industry you can get into and you can do many things with it.

Communications is a great field to get into because you can to many things with it once you've graduated. I wish OSU had a film production major because i want to be a cinematographer.

You just need the correct grades and classes to get into the major

So Much Diversity – Columbus and Ohio State are great for their diverse communities. There is almost any type of food right off campus that your heart desires, Mexican, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Greek, and many more!

OSU has over 20 libraries, with the main one in the center of campus next to the biggest student hangout, The Oval. There are also more than one athletic facilities located all over campus so it's very convienient to get to one from any direction.

Alcohol & Marijuana – It really depends on who you associate with but more people at OSU drink. Never have I seen anyone drinking on campus, but right across the street and off campus parties are a huge thing with beer cans thrown all over the lawns. If people do drugs, it's usually just marijuana that floats around.

CABS Is Amazing – OSU has a very reliable bus transportation, with real-time maps and updates about where the buses are and texting option to find out when the next few buses are coming. Nice drivers and completely free service, you don't have to worry about missing your stop because the buses stop at every stop and are still timely.

Depends on Transportation – There is a lot to do in Columbus but the need of transportation to get to many of the activities. Also there is transportation to these areas but the timing is not always helpful.

Very Mixed – Some classes and professors I've had are extremely helpful and interested in helping students but then there are some that seem to not want to be there and don't want to be teaching. Lots of teachers only seem to be interested in their research.

There are so many students at osu and not enough parking spots for everyone to fit.

I definitely reccommend an apartment as soon as youre able to get one. They are expensive but totally worth it in the long run. Renting an apartment will quickly make you a more responsible person, that's for sure!
College Senior 2012-07-31T18:58:41Z
Make sure you leave a large amount of time to get to class because you will have trouble finding a spot.

Incredible Spirit – I lived about a half mile from 'The Shoe' at Ohio State, and on game day, it was insane. For men's and women's sports alike, the atmosphere was insane. Want to get involved in an intramural or club sport? Go for it. They've got anything and everything there. I was a member of the Triathlon Club, and they all got so into what they were doing that they ended up on ESPN and in national triathlon magazines for their spirit (not to mention winning the spirit award at Collegiate Nationals--actually quite coveted, strangely enough).
Long story short, sports at Ohio State are AMAZING if that's your thing. It wasn't mine, but I was one of the few who didn't go nuts for the Buckeyes.

Large Drug and Sex Problems – As someone who rushed fraternities at Ohio State, I've got to say that I'm honestly appalled with the way the gents conduct themselves, and they give fraternities a bad name. I've seen more drugging of women and rude treatment of other individuals (beyond hazing) than I care for. Huge cocaine problems exist within several fraternities, and I wouldn't get caught up in it. Entirely objectionable.
That being said, they do give back to the community a fair amount. There are a good apple or two among the thirty-some fraternities at Ohio State.

Decent Housing – Not bad dorms. North campus is nice because you get your own bathroom among you and your roommates. South is great if you have trouble meeting people because they are mostly communal baths and your doors will stay open more often. Many of the dorms are older and have their issues but for the most part OSU is like a mini city in itself and you can get anywhere and buy anything you need.
College Junior 2012-07-26T21:48:14Z
Best of the Best – Ohio State has the best of the best. Thompson library has recently been completely re-done. The RPAC is like the biggest recreation facility in the country. We have 3 Olympic size pools, a rock climbing wall, ice skating. You name it, we have it.
College Junior 2012-07-26T21:39:35Z
Be Prepared to Walk – There are a ton of dorms on campus, all around campus. But the campus is also huge so no matter what you are going to have to walk a little. If you want a dorm with lots of roommates, you should opt for something like the Morril Tower where you can have 8 roommates. Some dorms have 4 people, some have 2. Whatever you want they have. Dorms are average. Maintenance staff is pretty good for having so much to do. Be careful because different dorms cost different amounts. Move in day can be hectic with the parking situations.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
