Housing isn't too bad... The quality, however, is just O. K. You'd think that since OSU is such a big place there would be plenty of housing options closeby, but unfortunately a) there really aren't that many, and b) the available ones are ridiculously expensive for their less-than mediocre quality. If the facilities could be in better shape with cheaper rent, then the off-campus housing wouldn't be as bad.

Guys & Girls:
Fun Party Pals – People at Ohio State are very friendly and open-minded. They just like to have a good time. You still have your typical jerky frat dudes and stuck-up sorority girls (although some very nice ones too), but for the most part everyone is laid back and fun.

South Vs North Campus – South campus dorms are more social. They are a little lower in quality however. North campus dorms offer a bit more space. I recommend choosing your campus (North or South) based on where the majority of your classes will be.

Vegeterian Friendly Options – Great dining options with a wide variety of fresh food. I'm a vegeterian and there are many available options for me.

Overall Sufficient – I don't have a problem with the professors; all of mine have been engaging and willing to help the student learn. I really enjoy listening to someone who is passionate about their work. The problem I have is getting night classes in an International Relations major. I am currently working full time and there aren't any night or on-line classes thatI can take. I will have to either convince my boss to let me move to second or third shift or quit work in order to finish my degree.

Try to Remember – There are plenty of clubs in the area to have a good time, but there are literally dozens of house parties going on at any given night. If it's the night before, or night of an Ohio State football game make sure you bring a sober friend who can remind you where you are the next day.

Commute If You Can – Freshmen are required to spend their first year in the dorms. They recently bought the Holiday Inn on Lane Ave. so those rooms are nice. However the regular dorms are small, and poorly ventilated. Maybe thats why so many people are able to wear sandals in the winter.

Health & Safety:
Room to Improve – Although the campus feels mostly safe, there is plenty of room for improvement. I only see a handful of campus police driving around, and for a campus like Ohio State their needs to be much more; especially on High Street.

Research Oppurtunities – There are tons of oppurtunities to get involved and enhancing in your education.

I have never really witnessed the drug problem on campus. I don't usually affiliate myself with that type of thing, but I know it will always be taking place, but to me it is not really noticeable.

Parties on campus are like no where else. You may think you have seen a college party, but not until you party at Ohio State. The people are partying from noon until night, it just never stops. There is never a dull moment at Ohio State when it comes to nightlife.

Health & Safety:
The way campus is set up, you never feel unsafe while on campus, even at night. There are help buttons all over campus that you can press and with the lighting on campus you never feel afraid as if there is a dark place. I am impressed with how big the campus is, and how safe it feels.

This is the best place on Earth. It is like one gigantic family here. The total college experience. So many opportunities things to do here.

Greek Is Eh – Not particularly influential. They are on the social scene, but there is no compulsion to go Greek.

Columbus Is Beautiful! The Ohio State University campus is surprisingly beautiful. It is very well maintained and classically landscaped for the traditional homely and elegant university feel. You feel very at home here. The buildings are all fresh looking and some are even very new like the Thomas Library and Ohio Union. Columbus is also a vibrant area by Short North and the Arena district, though most of the college crowd hangs out on North High and Lane.

Best thing about campus dining is the variety. Students can use their meal plan at any and all of the dining locations, many of which are non-traditional: delivery pizza to dorms and libraries, burrito place open until 2 am etc.

Columbus has typical Ohio weather. Summers usually are 80 to 95 degrees. It will rain once a week on average. Winters are cold. 2 or 3 big snow storms a winter season.

Ohio State has excellent computer technology. The Computers are up to date and stylistically nice as well. There are great labs, printers. The Network speed would be about a 8 out of ten due to heavy traffic in the evenings. Sites such as Youtube can get slower. There are plenty of accessible computers and labs on the campus.

Everyone Loves Sports – The sports scene at Ohio State is largely dominated by football, but other sports are supported as well. Athletic facilities are huge and have almost anything you can think of. Everyone gets involved in sports in some way, even if it's just watching the game on Saturday.

When I entered Ohio State University as a sophomore, the campus had buildings without air, building interiors were falling apart with rain leaks and dry wall missing, and stores and buildings around campus seemed old and run down. However, overall, the campus has really come up in the years. They have torn down or renovated buildings to bring them up to date including buildings with air conditioning for the hot summers and autumns of Ohio. The new athletic center is wonderful and has convenient times for the busy student who wants to fit a good workout into their daily routing. They even have more study areas than ever before including computer labs added to certain buildings for added student access. Their libraries are excellent and divided into subjects and each library is found close to a specified college for added convenience. There are more activities around campus than ever before for added entertainment. These also include new stores where the student does not even have to leave the comfort of campus life to find a Barnes and Noble or shop for essentials other than school supplies. The food locations have increased and now one can find many fast food favorites included in the student union. They also have food locations now spread throughout campus so the typical student does not have to walk as far. The revamped bus routes makes it more convenient for the average student as it relieves parking parking problems, lessens the walking distances for most students, and makes making it to your next class that much faster.

The Campus Area Bus Service (CABS) is great. It comes about ever 7 minutes. Also, in the last year the school has added electronic signs giving ETA for when the next bus or two busses will be arriving at that stop. Late at night, however, the bus only comes every 15-20 minutes.
The city bus (COTA) is also great as one line runs up and down the main off-campus street every 7-10 minutes and is "free" to ride with student ID (a $9 fee is included in each student's tuition).
Overall, transportation around campus is great. Even injured or disabled students have the Handivan option, where one is able to set up their schedule and receive rides to and from school, work, or anywhere within 3 miles of campus!
Sorry, there are no reviews.
