Parking is quite ridiculous. The parking on campus is by permit only, although OSU has made a great effort to allow anyone to park in certain campus lots using a "Pay and Display" machine, which has improved some availability of parking to those without permits. Permits for the year are quite expensive (about $230 for a student permit for the year)! There is almost never enough parking during the day. Additionally, recently the school closed a student lot to build a structure which was thought to be a parking ramp for students and turned out to be another administrative building, thus reducing a whole parking lot intended for students and not replacing those lost spots! Parking is awful and it doesn't seem like the school has done much to improve on campus parking for students! There is "west campus parking" in which the permit costs less and busses continuously run to campus from those lots. But it is difficult on weekends and at night because the busses run less frequently.
Freshman are not allowed a car on campus, which is good since there is barely enough parking for juniors and seniors. As a sophomore, you are allowed a west campus permit, and a junior and senior you are allowed a campus permit.
Overall, there is definitely not enough parking on campus and there is nothing that is being done to rectify the situation.

Safety Is Top Priority – Campus is not very strict. Off-campus there has been known to be some undercover cops looking for underage drinking, and when large campus events are occurring (football home games/upsets, cinco de mayo, etc) there is a larger police presence, which can actually be a good thing since OSU is such a large school and things can easily quickly get out of hand. I don't feel that the police interrupt any activities unless the safety of the students is at risk.
The student population has a good say about most things that go on around campus, but sometimes the feeling that students have input into "the system" is a false sense in that the decisions seem to be coming from somewhere else, even when the administration actively seeks student input.
However, as for strictness, on and off campus is not very strict against the students.

There are different races and religions at OSU. I have friends of different races. That is what I like about this school.

Exploration Program – I had a tough time figuring out my major. The advisors have been helpful. I enjoy the college atmosphere here. There is always something to do.

Your Decision – Wandering off campus is where most alcohol and drug events are. The biggest drug abuse (other than caffeine) is probably smoking. Drinking is the biggest abuse however.

No Impact – While Greek life is offered at OSU, only around 10% of students are involved. They do have various service events, but are mostly used as party scenes.

Tons of Options – There are many things to do and see both on and off campus at OSU. The Student Union typically hosts free events. A short bus ride (free for students) takes you into the heart of Columbus for clubs, concerts, etc. If you don't want to ride the bus there are always house parties every weekend.

Dorms Are Convenient but Expensive – I lived in dorms my first two years of college and it was a fun experience. I got to meet lots of cool people, it was great for having study groups, and it was convenient and easy. The only downside is that they are much more expensive than getting an apartment just off campus. On campus dining is also very good and convenient but again expensive.

The prices are high and spots are very hard to find.

Buses Are the Best – Buses are free to use at the Ohio State University. They are very convient with many routes and areas for pickup.

Numerous Choices – There are so many options to choose from in the dining halls. There are also many cafes with healthy eating options.

I love all Ohio State athletics. The environment is great and there's so much support and spirit. The athletes represent the school well.

I'm going to live off-campus for the first time this up-coming school year. The process of findng a place wasn't too difficult, and so far the realtor company as been easy to deal with.

11Th Floor – The 11th Floor Study Area of our main library is amazing. Igt looks over an 11 acre college yard and the entire campus. It's decked out with nice furniture and a good vibe. Love it.

There is freedom at OSU. College is a place to expand and grow, without restriction, only with guidance.

New City, New Things to Learn – Columbus is an ok city. There are alot of things I could do that I never could have done in my hometown. But the people in Columbus are picky of who they want to hang out with, talk to, etc.

Lots of People = Lots of Parties – there is GREAT transportation on the buses, cabs and safety service rides. almost all of the clubs/bars are 21+, so there are a lot of parties going on, always for the underagers. most of them are at bros' houses and frats, though.
there are always alternatives to drinking, if that's not what you're into.

Guys & Girls:
There are SO many people, no 'type' dominates. There are obviously a lot of sports fans, but I myself am not a huge football fan but I still have a great time interacting with the people on campus. Some kids go out every night, and some don't drink at all. There are always alternatives to drinking available, but there is always a party or place to go, too.

Brand New! We just renovated our main library and re-built our student union within the past year. The main rec center is nice and the rest are decent, but with so many students they do get crowded sometimes. What's important is learning the best times to go so that you won't be waiting for a machine.
The campus in general is beautiful. It's BIG, has the college feel from most buildings, and the Oval, our lawn space, is so nice. It doesn't feel like we're so close to down town, but it's so convenient that we are!

I LOVE everything about my university. The feeling of comradery is amazing, and it's everywhere. There is no other feeling like being in the shoe, with your fellow buckeyes, cheering on our team. The amount of diversity is so high. I have met people from all over the country and the world, every one of them are some of the nicest people I know. The campus is beautiful, with so many state of the art facitilites, especially the new student union and the physical activity facility. There is never a dull moment at this university with so many activities and clubs, concerts and sporting events. I would choose Ohio State again and again, if I could do it all over. There is no other university like The Ohio State University.
Sorry, there are no reviews.
