Food on campus is way overpriced, portions are small and it gets old after a while.

The campus isn't terribly diverse, most are white. Second biggest racial group is Asian.

The weather is sporadic and unpredictable. It's not uncommon to see students wearing flip flops and shorts with a winter coat. Winters are too long.

Sports, especially football are a HUGE deal. There are always events going on, ranging from comedy shows to cultural awareness fairs. There is something for everyone to get involved in.

The campus is pretty lenient on most issues as long as it doesn't get too out of control

OSU has a beautiful, and very functional campus. I live in a brand new dorm, so I may have a slightly biased opinion, however I have had a wonderful experience with all of the facilities at Ohio State. Our student Union is magnificent, and so are the various gyms on campus. The best part about Ohio State is that if there is a facility that you are not particularly fond of, there is almost always another one of the same kind that you can find! For example if you don't like the JO South gym by your dorm, another gym is most likely only about a five or ten minute walk! So you can choose facilities that fit your tastes.

I am currently going through the process of searching for off-campus housing right now. I have set up several appointments with Realtors, however many upperclassman live off campus, so I am assuming the process will be relatively smooth. There is an incredible amount of variety in pricing of off campus housing, as well as variety of location.

On campus transportation is wonderful, and we even have an app telling you how many minutes until the next bus arrives. Usually about 5 minutes until the next bus, they run very frequently. As for the Columbus area busing, a bus pass is included in tuition costs, which allows each students University ID to be used as a bus pass for the COTA bus, Anywhere you want to go in Columbus, you can find a way to get there.

I have my own laptop, so I have not had much experience with the computers on campus. However, when I have walked through all the libraries on campus, it seems that they are generally crowded. I am sure it is very possible to find times and ways to get on computers here on campus, however it is very convenient having your own computer from my experience.

People at Ohio State are from all around the world. However, in regards to international students, most come from East Asia. Yet, what I have found to be most diverse here is the personalities of students. I have met people with beliefs, and opinions that I have never even considered before. The diversity here has enhanced my experience, and is something OSU takes very seriously and is always looking to improve.

Weather here is truly Ohio weather. It is all over the place, however I have grown up in Ohio so I am used to this. As long as you are prepared with appropriate clothing you will be fine! The campus bus system is wonderful, and very quick too so in the winter, there are ways to get around this large campus while also staying warm.

I love Columbus more than I could have imagined. It is the perfect balance between a larger city with plenty of opportunity, but not one that is too large that you feel lost in the crowd. Ohio State's campus is also nearly a city in itself, which if you are wondering, after a semester here I can tell you is truly an awesome quality to have. However, coming from a small town Columbus has also taught me to be more aware of my surroundings and has prepared me for the real world outside of the bubble of Louisville, OH that I grew up in. Just being aware and being smart have been enough to make me feel very safe in this environment. On campus is incredibly safe, and off campus is fine, and I often see police visible all around Columbus, enhancing my sense of security. As for shopping, Urban Outfitters is right on campus, as well as the entire Short North Shopping District within walking distance. As for actual Malls, there are several within a 20 minute drive, which are also available by bus. The opportunity to have fun here is astounding, because the location has so many advantages.

Everyone views The Ohio State University as this huge school that you will get lost in the crowd in if you attend. It is true that the University's large size sometimes makes hearing about every opportunity challenging, but what they don't tell you is the incredible support systems this University possesses if you choose to be involved in them. The campus' freshman year experience program's overwhelming theme is: Get involved! The more I have gotten involved, the more at home I have felt here, and the more I have matured as an adult. In the real world, no one will be holding my hand, and I believe this University is the perfect stepping stone between offering you assistance if you seek it, and providing you more resources and opportunities than I believe almost any other University in the nation could offer. The pride at Ohio State is something that I feel so strongly a part of, and has provided me an immense sense of community. Being surrounded constantly by people who all feel like they belong, and support the environment I live and go to school in is very inspiring. This is not to mention the extensive, and very loyal alumni network available to OSU grads. I am currently involved in the International Affairs Scholars program at Ohio State, which provides a learning community for freshman based on similar interests in international affairs. Living with other people who were outstanding in the classroom, and in their community in high school, makes it so much easier to similarly succeed in college. I have made many friendships that I know will continue all four years and beyond because of this program, and it allowed me to be involved in a club when I first stepped on campus. Hence, my mission to get involved had already started before I even arrived. Health and wellness is also a huge priority to the University, and they do their best to give students opportunities to get help, stay fit, or provide support in times of need. The strong initiative at OSU of keeping their students healthy has actually inspired me to switch my major to public health since being here. The process of switching majors was so smooth because of the wonderful advisory I was able to talk to, which is another testimony to the strong academics and support here at OSU. All around, coming to The Ohio State University is the best decision I believe I could have made for my future, and I will forever take pride in being a Buckeye! I would strongly recommend OSU to anyone with a hardworking, adventurous spirit who is not only ready to be serious in the classroom, but is also ready and willing to have fun. Ohio State is truly the best of both worlds.

They honestly need more buses or another form of campus transportation... hello Wittenburg... can osu get some underground tunnels to help with winter safety?
