There are three main housing quarters on campus: North, South, and the Towers. North Campus is considered the place for quiet living and for those who don't seek out a huge social life. South Campus dorms are a bit louder, since they house the majority of the incoming freshman class. Towers are nearly ignored because of their distance from the main campus. Most students agree that all the dorms could use some work-don't expect to be wowed by your living facilities.

The best advice is to choose an area to live in based on what type of environment you're most likely to enjoy. It really boils down to what attitude you have and what types of people you want to be around. North and the Towers tend to be less noisy and better places to study, overall. In these dorms, you get two rooms and your own bathroom, as well as air-conditioning. South Campus dorms are known throughout the University for a much more relaxed and outgoing atmosphere. Most South dorms do not have their own bathrooms, and they are generally smaller and uglier than North; you do have fewer people in each room, however. Another important thing to consider is location: most classes are held closer to North Campus, and this can mean a lot when it's below freezing outside and there's snow on the ground. All of the dorms are in sore need of updating-everything was built in the `50s and `60s, and you can tell-with the possible exception of the Towers. A final word of advice: if you have the chance, loft your bed and drop your desk. You'll see why.
