College Prowler Take

OSU provides its students with facilities to meet both mental and physical needs. Students can look forward to the new Student Union being built on campus. It is scheduled to open in the fall 2010. In addition to the Main Library, which is due for renovations, there are a lot of smaller specialized libraries and reading rooms for almost every type of interest. Many students say that you don’t actually have to leave campus to have everything you need.

If you’re trying to get in shape after that figure-destroying weekend of keg parties, or if you just like to work out regularly, you’re in luck—numerous fitness centers around campus are available to students. The facilities get a little crowded during peak workout times, but you can still get around them without too much hassle. Larkins has recently been renovated, and at over 45,000 square feet, it is one of the finest recreation centers in America. Jesse Owens North and South and other recreation facilities on campus are slightly more modern, but they are much smaller.

The facilities are nice, although they’re not always kept as up-to-date as you think they would be for the amount you are paying per quarter.

Being in South Campus and having the Jesse Owens centers around is great. They even have a little concrete hockey floor to mess around in. There are also some basketball courts that are out in the open nearby, as well. Some people who don’t attend the University hang out there, but it’s not a big deal.

There are awesome places to work out in. I didn’t know if there would be too much of an emphasis on having a good fitness center, and running around just doesn’t do it for me. You should visit Larkins.
