Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

A campus as large as OSU’s tends to make one optimistic in regards to finding someone attractive. Some students, of course, are taken, but there is also a large majority of available coeds who are out in search of a good time. Guys and girls alike feel that there is enough variety to find any type of relationship you’re searching for. No matter what your style is, students agree that you can probably find your type somewhere on campus. It doesn’t hurt that there are some 50,000 other people around the city, either.

Some students could care less about the selection—any willing partner will do. If this is the case, you’re in good shape because of the sheer amount of people at OSU. If you are more selective, there will still be plenty who fit your profile. The feeling around campus is pretty upbeat, and there are many places to go searching for a specific type of girl or guy. Just look around you: classrooms and residence halls are a great place to meet people. It’s also a good idea to go around town and hit the different scenes, because there is a lot of variety out there. Study dates are a great way to get to know someone in class a little better. On sunny days, put on your best clothes and take a stroll around campus. One piece of advice, guys: if you’re around the Oval on a warm, sunny day, bring sunglasses; or at least, remember to blink once in awhile!

Guys & Girls

There are a lot of middle class hipsters at OSU. Dress is very diverse- some people choose to look nice and others wear sweats every day but either one is fine. Relationships are good and social life can be hard at first, so it is critical to get involved at such a large school

So Much Variety

There are so many different type of people. If you just get to know the people on your floor you will find diversity. There are people who have have lived on a farm their entire lives and this is the first the that they are in a city. On the other hand there are people who have never left the city and feel right at home.

Go Bucks!

So I'm originally from Maryland where popped collars and polos are the norm. OSU was pretty different from what I was used to. There not really a unique style that you can call "Midwest". The social life is great. People definitely like to have a good time, especially during football season!

Facts

Hookups or Relationships?

Most women are already taken, but there is also a large group of girls who are only out to have fun and think nothing more of it. There are also plenty of single guys around, looking for everything from hookups to long-term relationships. There is no real trend toward either end of the spectrum.

Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls

Bars are great places to meet up with people and have a friendly chat. Believe it or not, the library is also a great place to hang out with romantic interests. If the weather is nice, there is no place better than the Oval. Don't be afraid to wander the halls of your dorm, either. The best time to find that special person is during the springtime. The flowers are blooming, the sun is shining, the campus looks beautiful, and lots of skin is shown. Lots of people hook up in the spring, only to have the relationship fall apart during the long summer break. Keep your chin up, and take advantage of the warm weather when you come back for fall quarter. During spring quarter, date people who live on North Campus or in the Towers—they have air-conditioning!

Dress Code

Students dress in all kinds of styles. You have emo, preppy, conservative, punk, hip hop, and many others. The prevailing color, however, is red. Even the homeless people around campus wear Ohio State clothing. When it's cold, though, not many people worry about making a fashion statement. During the spring is when you see who has style and who does not
