College Prowler Take

The verdict is overwhelmingly positive when it comes to dining in Columbus. There is such a wide selection of different types of food that it actually becomes very difficult to find something everyone can agree on (the exact opposite of the problem you’ll run into while eating on campus). No matter what type of food you’re looking for, you’ll find it here. Prices don’t seem to be a big issue for students, and everything is rather manageable, even for the cost-minded. Many restaurants also accept money from your Buck-ID card, making off-campus dining an even more attractive option.

There are so many places to choose from that just deciding where to get pizza can become an ordeal. Remember that many places around campus also deliver; tip the drivers well, though, because driving around campus is rough. A growing number of ethnic restaurants have sprung up throughout the city. Conveniently enough, most can be found along High Street, so you don’t have to walk far. Most restaurants are open very late, but be sure to call ahead before you make the trip. The eateries around Columbus more than make up for the lack of dining options at OSU; eating out too much can get expensive, however, not to mention fattening—you’ll probably want to make use of those athletic facilities after a few nights on the town. Try as many restaurants as you can, and by the end of your first semester, you’ll already have a handful of favorites.

High Street is the place to be any time of day, mainly for the food. From the brand new Five Guys, Chipotle, Bento (best Asian food, by the way), the ever-popular Canes, and Jimmy Johns, you can have every craving met. The best part? Most places deliver!

Off-campus dining is pretty awesome. Most of the places deliver and are open late. However, on Friday and Saturday nights around the time before people head to parties or are on their way home from one, off-campus places can get REALLY crowded.
