I don't know why anyone would complain about living in Morrison—it's a lot nicer than Siebert.

The best bars are the O Patio, aka...

The best bars are the O Patio, aka Fratio. Located on 15th and High, it's awesome for day drinking, night drinking, or really any kind of drinking to hang out with your friends. Other favorites are Bento Go Go and Cazuela's---best margaritas in the city. Overall, the nightlife here is awesome because there is something for anyone who wants to party.

High Street is the place to be any...

High Street is the place to be any time of day, mainly for the food. From the brand new Five Guys, Chipotle, Bento (best Asian food, by the way), the ever-popular Canes, and Jimmy Johns, you can have every craving met. The best part? Most places deliver!

Rent for an apartment or house is...

Rent for an apartment or house is super low, as are utilities. I highly recommend using the off-campus housing service through the school. They know which landlords are good and which are not, which is a relief when you are a first-time renter.

I like that Greek life doesn't...

I like that Greek life doesn't dominate the social scene. I come from the South, where which sorority or fraternity you are in is just as important as what your last name is. The nice thing about Greek life here is that everyone in it actually wants to be Greek. It is an awesome opportunity to be Greek, with incredible community service, leadership, and social opportunities.

I love Ohio State. I come from Virginia, where there is pretty much every kind of college you can imagine, but there is no school like OSU. Everyone truly loves being here and considers themselves lucky to be called a Buckeye. We have almost every type of person, every type of major, any extra-curricular activity you can think of, and a thriving nightlife. Oh, and the football!?!? Wow.

Football! Football! Football! The students worship OSU football. The other sports are nothing compared to it. The intramural leagues get pretty big too.

The police really do not bother us...

The police really do not bother us that much unless we are openly being drunk out in public or carrying alcohol. Undercover cops have been known to arrest a lot of people on game day when they are drinking outside underage.

Off-campus dining is pretty...

Off-campus dining is pretty awesome. Most of the places deliver and are open late. However, on Friday and Saturday nights around the time before people head to parties or are on their way home from one, off-campus places can get REALLY crowded.

I walk alone on campus late at night all the time, so based on my experience alone, I think it's pretty safe.

If you're underage, your best bet...

If you're underage, your best bet is an off-campus party. Occasionally a group of friends and I will get together and drink in the dorm, but it usually sucks because you have to hide the booze every time someone knocks on the door. And of course there is always the threat of getting caught by the RAs doing rounds. So to summarize, just go off campus somewhere.

Despite what OSU says, GECs are pointless. And every TA that I've had has been foreign, and I couldn't understand a word they said.

Almost every night of the week...

Almost every night of the week there are a bunch of drunk people running around (alcohol is a drug, come on people, we're in college we should know that!), and especially on south campus you'll get to know the smell of weed pretty well. I don't know why everyone else is lying, but the drug/party scene at OSU is HUGE. If you deny that, then I want to know where it is that you're living or if you're just oblivious.

Ohio State is amazing; it’s the perfect college for me. I’ve visited other places, and there is no place that I’d rather be. Ohio State encompasses all aspects of the college experience. It’s a place where you’ll make your best friends, you’ll meet people from all walks of life, and even learn a thing or two. It definitely offers a unique and totally liberating college experience to all who bear the scarlet and gray.

If you get looking early, you can find some decent housing. It’s comparatively cheaper than the dorms, and you share a bathroom with fewer people. If you end up six blocks from campus, it’s not worth it.

There are a lot of apartments and houses mostly east of campus, some of which actually cost less than living in the dorms (if you get the right deal). First-year students have to live in the dorms, though.

Pick your roommates and the house or apartment you want to live in early—both get snatched up fast. Everything is really close to campus, and many places are pretty much across the street!

My overall experience has been a good one. I have met some great people and enjoyed the benefits of being a student-athlete. I transferred from Denver, and everyone asks me why I came to Ohio, but even now, thinking back, I’m still glad I transferred. I do not regret making that decision. I have seen another part of the nation, and there was definitely a culture shock that has taken some time to get used to. I wouldn’t trade my college experience here in Ohio for anything.
