Cota Buses, Security Cars

The Cota buses are available to all students at Ohio State University with you school card. You can also receive security cars when it is late and the buses do not run. All you have to do is swipe your ID card and it is free.

Computer Lab Is Always Available

The computer labs are always open at Ohio State University. Many of the students are able to go there at any time and work on assignments and lab work.

Columbus Rocks

There is something for everyone in Columbus. Entertainment, restaurants, shopping, not to mention a multitude of options for internships. And the city bus system is free for students so it easy to get around.

Learning Communities Are Awesome!

Since it's such a big school, Ohio State offers a lot of different housing opportunities. I roomed in a learning community dorm that was specific to my major, and I couldn't have been happier. Dorms are widely diverse in size, communities, and location, but they're all run by friendly, knowledgeable people who will get to know you despite the size of the school.

Lots to Do

There is always something social happening on campus.

Not Much

Columbus, Ohio, it may be the 15th biggest city, but it is kinda bland. It's like a ghost town sometimes and it's always overcast. Not many sunny days until summer. There are malls that are no where near campus. The main places in the city can get repetitive.

Too Routine

If you like doing the same things over and over with your weekend OSU is for you! There is always a party to be found, but depending on who's there you may not want to be found if the police show up. Columbus has very few attractions, but it's in the progress of changing that reputation.

Not Too Bad, Depending

I really like the spirit that is seen on campus not only by the students, but also by staff and loyal alumni. However, I am in a health care field which requires a lot of science. I feel that the science curriculum is weak and sets a lot of students up for failure. Also the campus I feel is too big. You can meet someone then never see them ever again that same year. Also if you planned on making friends in class, don't bet on it. Most classes are 40+ and it's hard to meet class mates. Most of your friends will be people from clubs/activities, your dorm and if your lucky, smaller seminar classes. If you have the option to do Honors/Scholars programs apply! There are so many perks, just go to the website and check them out.

Very Diverse

There are people all over campus all the time, and all of different races. However there are still a majority of white students, there are a sufficient number of asians, and muslims. There is truly a stop for everyone on campus and I never see to much of an issue with diversity.

Police Interactions

I feel that the Police are doing a good job at keeping students social lives from going out of hand. I have never been in a situation where i have been confronted by the police, so I do not know how nice or mean they are. However I have not heard any bad things about them. I do know that if you drink and you're not of legal age then you are already asking for trouble. The police do not accept any type of indecent behavior or public drunkenness. If you show signs of intoxication they will ask you questions and ask to see your id.

Honors dorms are by far superior, regardless of if you're on West, North, or South.

Favoritism for Athletes

As a varsity athlete, I know how much special treatment athletes get. Is this fair? Maybe, maybe not. We certainly have twice the stress level of anyone else who is trying to do everything we are without the practices, away matches, etc. My point is, we work really hard, and the university rewards us heavily for it.

Never a Boring Time

Columbus is an awesome college town. There is always something to do, depending on what kind of shenanigans you want to get into. High Street is a hot bed for entertainment, delicious food, and rowdy bars. A little further down High there's the arena district/downtown where you can find more bars and clubs if you're in the mood to dance you're pants off. For the more artsy fartsy stuff, there's the Short North, down on High, where you can go to gallery hops and check out some little hole in the wall shops. Even if you just want to hang out and find something to do on campus, there's always stuff going on at the Union or the Wexner Center for the Arts.

Generally Good and Well Organized

Overall the university it extremely prestigious, however at student level there are a variety of issues. The advising departments are hard to get in touch with and in my experience have not been very helpful. The same is true of the financial aid office. Scheduling is also routinely a minor nightmare.

Good Food

The food around campus is readily available and can be both healthy and delicious. Students should explore all the dining facilities, and find one that balances value and quality, especially since there are so many choices on campus.

Wow Great Clubs and Hangout

Nightlife is great. There are a lot of places to hang out and socialize everyday and they are easily accessible.

Nightlife!

The nightlife at Ohio State is very good. There is always something to do, whether that be see a movie at the conveniently located theater (The Gateway Film Center), or go downtown to Columbus, or walk down greek row. There seems to always be a party. The bars are close and are good about hosting events such as sorority and fraternity date parties and themes parties. Campus dining halls close way too soon (except Sloopy's) and would probably make more money if they stayed open later. High street is usually very crowded with people during the weekends, so you do not feel unsafe. There are plenty of taxis and busing services that will take you downtown, or simply across campus. I have only used the buses to go downtown for sporting events because most everywhere else is within good walking distance.

Diverse

It is hard to describe the typical student because there are so many different types. Their are so many different ethnicities, but mainly I notice the Chinese/Japanese and the Indian students. I can also tell the fraternity/sorority girls apart sometimes. The boys often wear khaki shorts and button up shirts with Sperry shoes. The girls often wear shirts and clothing with their sorority symbols on it. Then everyone else pretty much wears sweat pants and sweat shirts and are very casual. It is nice because you aren't expected to be all nice and dressy for class and you don't have to take time to really get ready for class.

Home at OSU

The local atmosphere of Ohio State University in Columbus is welcoming and encouraging. The school offers many varieties of clubs that encourage involvement of students. Sport events held at OSU builds spirit among students and a sense of family. OSU goes through extreme measures to make the school students feel as safe as possible. I feel extremely lucky to be going to this great school.

Large Campus, Lots of Opportunities

Being affiliated with a hospital and graduate schools allows many research opportunities and jobs for undergraduate level. Columbus is a city filled with culture but still has a midwest homey feel to it.

Athletic Facilities

The athletic facilities are nice but make sure to lock your stuff up to avoid theft.

School Spirit in Sports

Sports are a big part of OSU and the team spirit thrives on campus around game days. They unite the study body and get them excited for their school. The teams seem to be pretty good, too.

Great Libraries

The libraries are great. There are multiple ones on campus and they have a good atmosphere for getting things done. Plus, there are smalll cafes in most libraries which is really nice.

Student Life

Ohio State has so many things to offer to student life. The Ohio Union is a great central spot that combines so many aspects of campus in one place. It has countless rooms for club meetings and study sessions, three spots for on-campus dining, a ballroom, and even comfy couches and fireplaces for cozy late-night studying. The RPAC is also another great spot on Ohio State's campus. There are so many different types of workout activities, there's something for everyone. There are group fitness classes, five pools, sport courts, and numerous amounts of cardio equipment.
