The majority of OU students can never envision themselves going to any other school but Ohio University. Whether it’s the unique atmosphere, great classes, people they’ve met, or a combination of several factors, Bobcats are passionate about their school and feel confident about the choice they made. Once they graduate, it’s inevitable they will return more than once to recapture the feeling of strolling along Court Street and hanging out with great friends over a beer or game of pool. Though students may gripe over Friday afternoon classes, strict resident assistants, or how they can’t seem to get any work done because they live above a bar, students are still happy to be there and know that the good times will greatly outnumber the bad. It’s safe to say that OU is an excellent choice because it doesn’t just offer a first-rate education, but also provides students with the necessary life skills needed to survive out in the real world. While not everyone may leave OU 100 percent satisfied with their college experience, most graduate from the University confident and ready for what lies ahead of them and also a little sad to be saying goodbye to some of the best times of their lives. What’s most important about college is you make the most of wherever you choose to go. Thankfully, OU gives each individual many opportunities and amenities to enjoy this special phase of their lives. Ohio University Student ReviewsWhat's This?Filter:

Save Some Money, but Be Careful!
B+
There is a plethora of off campus options around Ohio University. This is good for you because you can save a lot per quarter by living outside of campus. A single on deep South (considered one of the worse areas of campus to live) is about $2200 a quarter. A double is still about $1800. The nicer dorms cost more money (in general most dorms cost about the same, but Adams has suites with personal bathrooms, so they are pricey). Compare this to the $1100 a quarter I payed to live in a house on Washington Street with four roommates, and you can see the savings. Even my nicer Riverpark apartment this year with 2 roomies is only $1600-ish a quarter (and gas, trash and water are included!)
Now, you have to consider utilities, but usually split 2-5 ways, they aren't bad, and some places even include them in your rent. Typical utilities include cable, internet, trash, water, electricity, and gas. They aren't typically very high, except gas in the winter (and Riverpark has gas included).
The one thing to be careful of is to look into who the landlord is. Different realtors have different reputations, and have varying degrees of reliability when it comes to rent, fixing things, etc. Grace Realty is reliable, as is PH Management (aka Housing Hotlinks, although sometimes you have to get on them). ProKos is the worst, avoid them at ALL costs. Just look into the company, and you'll be fine. |

Sense of Community
A+
I love the sense of community in Athens. It is a small town, but has everything you could ever want. There is a great bar scene if you enjoy partying. There is an amazing music scene. There is tons of outdoor spaces for hiking, biking, and other adventures. People here are great and friendly. If you want to be in a big city then it may not be for you, but there is something here for everyone no matter what you enjoy! |

Ok, but Not Really Needed
B
Parking is fairly easy. Don't drive to class if you can walk there because you arn't guaranteed a spot or may require a certain parking pass for lots. Luckily the campus is small so you don't really need a car other than for grocery shoppping. |
