College Prowler Take

It’s definitely easy to find a computer to use on campus, even during midterm and finals weeks. The computers in the residence halls are great, and it’s really nice not to have to worry about getting a computer while making the transition to college. Even when you’re out of the dorms, the labs can be a lifesaver if you run out of printer ink, or have to run in and check your e-mail. Even better, wireless Internet is accessible throughout campus, which is really convenient for those students with laptops. The Tech Depot is also really helpful to students. Whether you live in the dorms or not, the Tech Depot is easy to get a
hold of and can help with any computer-related problem. They can even fix your computer for a reasonable price, which definitely beats shelling out a lot of money to have it repaired someplace else.

One thing that can be a problem is just how easy it is to access a computer all of the time. Many students become practically addicted to the Internet, whether it’s playing online games or just checking Facebook. But in all, computers on campus are more of a blessing than a hindrance and the University does what it can to help even the most technologically backward students on campus use computers and the wireless network with ease.

Having computers in the dorms was awesome; I can’t imagine not having them. I loved the computer labs also. It was nice to go and spend as much time as you needed and not be distracted by much. If there was a wait, it was never very long.

There have been occasions when my computer has not worked (or has been out of ink), and I find myself having to go to the computer lab, which is not too bad of an experience.

There are many computer labs around campus. At certain times of the year, the labs are more crowded than others, but for the most part, you can find a computer to work on. There are also wireless Internet connections on campus if you own a laptop.

If you can afford a computer after leaving the dorms, I would recommend bringing your own computer just for the sake of efficiency.

Living off campus, it is more convenient to have your own computer if you can afford it. A computer is always a good investment, and with your own computer, you have the freedom to put any programs on the computer, including something that is not permitted on the general- access computers in the labs.
