Best Things

  • Court Street is the epitome of fun in Athens. It's the reason that the city gets its reputation as a transplanted Mardi Gras and why OU is known as a top party school.
  • The people. OU is loaded with attractive, outgoing people. It's easy to meet friends who will stick with you for a long time.
  • Even though there are few clubs, the nightlife still rocks. Bobcats know how to party, and they love their bars.
  • Ping. Ping. Ping. Can you say, "One amazing fitness center?" Rock climbing anyone?

Worst Things

  • Parking is without a doubt the worst thing at OU. You're better off driving some sort of tunneling machine than trying to find a spot sometimes.
  • My legs can't take it anymore. Some of the hills on campus are unbearable, and just because the cars don't have to go up all of them, it doesn't mean you can avoid them.
  • William Shakespeare once wrote, "For the rain it raineth everyday." He may have visited Athens. There are few things worse than waking up day after day to rain.
  • On-campus dining hours aren't all that convenient.

Most Popular Majors

Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

The majority of OU students can never envision themselves going to any other school but Ohio University. Whether it’s the unique atmosphere, great classes, people they’ve met, or a combination of several factors, Bobcats are passionate about their school and feel confident about the choice they made. Once they graduate, it’s inevitable they will return more than once to recapture the feeling of strolling along Court Street and hanging out with great friends over a beer or game of pool.

Though students may gripe over Friday afternoon classes, strict resident assistants, or how they can’t seem to get any work done because they live above a bar, students are still happy to be there and know that the good times will greatly outnumber the bad. It’s safe to say that OU is an excellent choice because it doesn’t just offer a first-rate education, but also provides students with the necessary life skills needed to survive out in the real world. While not everyone may leave OU 100 percent satisfied with their college experience, most graduate from the University confident and ready for what lies ahead of them and also a little sad to be saying goodbye to some of the best times of their lives. What’s most important about college is you make the most of wherever you choose to go. Thankfully, OU gives each individual many opportunities and amenities to enjoy this special phase of their lives.

Ohio U

Ohio U is amazing. Not only is it situated in the most beautiful scenery of trees, hills, and a river, but the people are all so friendly too. There are always activities going on, so there is always something interesting to do.

I Love It

I love my school. It's full of down to earth people in a laid back town. We care about our overall academics but we don't get tied up in the little things. Partying can be a huge part of your social life if you want it to be, but it doesn't have to be. You can fit in where you want and be happy there.

Good

The college lifestyle is great and so freeing. However it is easy to get side tracked from school because of social life. Yet studying is still important.
