Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Academics at Ohio Wesleyan are nothing less than top-notch, and it is no secret among its students. As opposed to many larger universities, the professors come to OWU to teach, and they love doing so. There is no such thing as a teaching assistant here. Classes are small and allow personal interaction with every faculty member. Academics are definitely challenging and require hard work, but your professor is always willing to help. There is a little joke among Ohio Wesleyan students that anybody can get into Ohio Wesleyan, but it is a challenge to get through it and even tougher to get through it successfully. The workload is well worth it, as graduates have gone on to do amazing things, especially in the area of academia. Almost one-third of graduates continue directly on to graduate school after their tenure at Ohio Wesleyan.

Many find the incredibly high acceptance rate an unfortunate figure as it can result in students who are not suited to handle the academic program. Furthermore, the OWU faculty is not afraid to use the entire grading spectrum, from A to F, in every class. The science and math programs are well-known throughout the campus for their especially rigorous requirements, as well as great placements in top grad schools for graduates. The popular economics department run by the Woltemade Center is also one of the top small-school programs in the country. Be warned—slacking off at OWU comes at a high price.

Professors Who Care

Not only is this school deceptively hard, but the professors are amazing. I have never been so challenged or inspired. but when you feel overwhelmed, always go speak to the professors, they really care! and they will work with you to make sure that you succeed.
