Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Drugs are not highly visible but are easily available throughout the campus. The OWU drug scene would mostly be characterized by nothing more than hippies passing a marijuana joint around a circle, although harder drugs are present if you are seeking them out. The likelihood of running into drug usage on campus varies greatly with where you are. Students learn within their first two weeks at OWU where the drugs are prevalent and where they are not, and it is up to them to decide where and with whom they will be hanging out. Everyone loves caffeine to help them throughout their day, and this use is fed by the many coffee/cappuccino places scattered around campus. Alcohol can be found at most every social gathering at night, but there isn’t that much pressure to use it if you are against it.

If you come to Ohio Wesleyan with the expectation that you will never be exposed to students drinking or smoking pot, you are in for a surprise. This is not to say that you will be pressured to use either, as many people decide not to. Decisions to use alcohol and drugs will always be a part of life, as they will also be a part of college life at Ohio Wesleyan. One thing that is for certain is that the campus police and administration have no tolerance when it comes to the usage and abuse of the harder drugs on campus. Getting caught with alcohol is one thing, but harder drugs will easily cut short your stay at OWU.

Saturated

The drug and alcohol scene is unfortunately pretty prevalent. The campus, greek life, etc. makes a considerable effort to educate, but there is still serious binging on the weekends, and a pretty heavy, although limited, drug use crowd, although there's probably a too much pot.

More stoners than Woodstock

Pot use is pretty rampant here, and that's an understatement. Very easy to get access to, and I run into high people all the time.

No Drug Scene

The drug scene at Ohio Wesleyan University is quite secretive. You would hardly see people doing drugs in public places. However drinking and smoking of cigarettes is quite popular.
