Advice on Finding a Job/Internship OWU’s career services can be very supportive to students looking to get a job, go on to graduate school, or whatever their plans may be. They keep connections to companies and alumni that can be invaluable in the search process. The department also has a database of alumni that can be searched for in a certain region of the country or industry to help with networking students. Most students have found their services to be very valuable, with everything from helping create their résumé to mock job interviews. They can also send references to companies or colleges and have mock business etiquette dinners, where students learn everything from what not to order to where to place your napkin. The best advice is to get started early in your senior year with your job or internship search process. It is up to you to use the many resources that you can, but if you are willing to put in the effort, you will be amazed at the amount of help people will give you. Networking can be very helpful in finding a job after college. Your biggest resource can be the people you have met and befriended throughout your experiences at OWU, especially the faculty or your fraternity brothers or sorority sisters. Also, the Career Center can be helpful, especially if you regularly visit and use their services. Introduce yourself to the men and women in that department as soon as you can, even during freshman year. It is never too early to start preparing for your future after college!
