Student Author OverviewWhat's This?

Ohioans know how to eat well, and it shows, with very good restaurants scattered across the state and its cities. Delaware is no different and offers some good alternatives to eating on campus every day, and what you can’t find in Delaware is only 30 minutes away in nearby Columbus. In walking distance, there is pretty much every type of fast food restaurant known to man, and many are open until 1 a.m. to satisfy students’ hunger at any time. There are also the classic hometown restaurants that every OWU student needs to experience—notably Bun’s, Hamburger Inn, and The Brown Jug. These have all been around for many years in Delaware and exude the small-town atmosphere as soon as one walks in the door. The food is pretty good, although it can be pricey for the average college student.

The student favorites are Avesta’s and Vaquero’s. Avesta’s, a small Mediterranean place, has fantastic food and even better martinis. Vaquero’s is an authentic Mexican restaurant with live mariachi music and great margaritas. Some student organizations have even held events there. Numerous good dining options are available on the main street in Delaware, but once in a while, students really reward themselves with a trip to a more classy place in Columbus. Columbus has everything a food connoisseur could ask for, including a five-star restaurant and every cuisine type imaginable.

Around OWU

If you are looking for healthy food in Delaware, go somewhere else. All restaurants around the university offer only fast-food. Examples are Mac Donalds, Wendy´s, Papa Johns, Domino´s etc...

They are cheap but eventually you will probably want some healthy food.
